The circles are old spikes that have repainted and dissapeared. They are considered spikes for the purpose of our our entry conditions.

If the spike has a thin white line down the middle, it can repaint. The thin line dissapears when the repaint probability is almost nil. Still, a spike with a thin line is also valid for entry condition 3.

Al, quick question....Do you consider ALL spikes valid? Not just colored ones or lined ones?

Hi Al,

Congratulations on your new thread!

I followed your posts on Symphonie and appreciated your great attitude. (BTW at 61 years you are just a spring chicken compared to me! lol)

When I saw that you had started your own thread, I joined FF so I could post to it.

As I expected, your system is amazing in its simplicity and effectiveness! I have long felt that TMA is the fastest and most usable of the smoothed MA's.

The primary risk of this system is that if it becomes too popular, adjustments will have to be made to keep it effective.

Everyone cannot be on the same side of a trade, obviously, because the winnings have to come from somewhere!

I want to echo the sentiment of all the other members who have thanked you for your gift of this system!

I know it's a lot of hard work (former teacher)!

So, hopefully, we can all pitch in to the best of our abilities to lighten the load.

Buena suerte!

From what I know, FX is not a zero sum games. Some company just need foreign currencies or at least need to hedge, and most of us here is retail trader. And yes we could take some win from the BBs.

For short term traders, all trading is a zero sum game!

True, Passerby, there are a lot of hedgers in FX and futures, but the ratio to speculators is small, I believe. In futures it's about 90% specs to hedgers, and I suspect it's similar in FX.

The performance of all profitable simple trading systems degrades over time.

The reason is also simple. Simple trading systems attract more retail traders.

Too many positions are on the same side of the trade, long or short, marketmakers and bank traders, who can easily push the market around, to "harvest alpha" (read, "fleece the retail trader") will catch on and push you out of your position.

If most are long, they'll push the market down until it creates a sell off, buy while there is selling, and sell into the bounce, and vice versa. They now use algos, but it's still the same game.

Common knowledge at hedge funds and prop shops.

Short version: play a simple system for all it's worth as long as it's profitable (which could be a fairly long time, or not!) As it becomes less and less profitable over time, find another pattern to exploit in the new market conditions.

Hi Al,

I want to thank the information you share. The system is a good system because it is based on simplicity and price action. But for me, more than the system, is to have the opportunity to learn from you great little secrets that only belong to most veterans. Such sharing of information you offer is priceless and you have this notion. The lack of sharing of this information is, for me, the main cause of high failure rate of many traders. Honestly I hope that you keep a high level of participation so that we can learn step by step with all...

Well put, my friend. Thanks. I know some of my fellow traders are not as happy as you are with what I am doing. Some will feel that experience is hard fought and expensive to acquire and should not simply be given away. Other good pros like nanningbob and Steve Hopwood feel differently. That by sharing we all improve and become more savvy traders and better human beings. I only know to do what feels good to me.

Yes. For the purposes of the system, all are valid, including the dots (repainted spikes).

Another great post and very well expressed. Thank you. As far as the system becoming too popular and thus ineffective, I donīt think we have to worry about that. The market is immense and growing by leaps and bounds every day. This is a drop of rain in a thunderstorm and whatever its merits, it will not change human and market behavior.

I am aware of upcoming news events and keep a keen eye on them, but as I stated before, I am a purist TA trader. I trade what the charts tell me to trade, news or not.

Hi Al, would you consider shorting the EU (after the MA cross of course) with the present angle of the TMA?
