DislikedAl,
Just wanted to thank you for starting this thread and wish everyone some happy and profitable trading! Really looking forward to trying out your system tomorrow - just need to load it all up tonight!Ignored
DislikedAlex, when I get into a situation that is very hard to explain I always look back at history. Do me a favor, maximize the gold chart and zoom all the way out. Keep the 15M Periodicity, uncheck the autoscroll and take a ride through the past. Look for previous instances where price stayed this long clearly over the band, high or low. I just did. There are a few, less than ten. What happened right after every one of those? Price catapulted to the other band. The points are:
1- History repeats itself constantly in the markets.
2- The longer Price...Ignored

DislikedHi realjumper,
could to see you here as well. You are so well repected for your great contributions!
You can, almost accurately. Do we have the same understanding of backtesting? BT is not scrolling back a chart, look at the indies painted long time ago and stable and then evaluate the entry/exit criteria.
BT to me is using the stratey tester in MT4, use a dummy EA, attach the indies you like and get it going. You can pause, fast forward, slomo etc tick by tick.
Yes, it is repainting as in live. It is like travel back in time.
(it is not...Ignored
DislikedAh ok....thanks for clearing that up candletiger. My preferred method of back testing is to use a simulator and set it going at time x 4 (to speed up the test) and spend the better part of the weekend noting the results.
And you're right, demo testing is not the same as live trading, but for me, testing a new system is a 3 phase project. Phase 1 is the demo trading while I learn to understand the system and get a 'feel' for how it works. Phase 2 is to live test on a small sub account for 'nickles and dimes', and phase 3 is to continue the test...Ignored
Disliked... for me, testing a new system is a 3 phase project. Phase 1 is the demo trading while I learn to understand the system and get a 'feel' for how it works. Phase 2 is to live test on a small sub account for 'nickles and dimes', and phase 3 is to continue the test with proper lots and MM. If one month of each phase is successful, then it passes my test and I use the system.
Most systems fail my testing process, or show results that I don't consider worth perusing.Ignored
DislikedRJ,
It seems a very good way to test a new strategy.
But as long each phase takes you one month? If the strategy proves to be very good, I think I could hardly wait that long, but I understand that would be more conservative to really know how the strategy behaves in different situations.
Thank you very much and good that you are participating in this thread. We learn a lot from you.
Many successes.Ignored
DislikedCongrats on your new thread, you will need a thick skin.
With this type of trading method, methinks the proof will be the posting of live trades...not something you see too much of in the FF. Post 'em and win and they will shutup and the thread will grow. Simple, HA!Ignored
