But if you look at this pic of your trade from beginning of Jan. the areas I separated with two white lines appear to be different from the areas I highlighted on my chart between 2 red vertical lines.

also taking a closer look at the indications. The kinks and turns seem more defined.

What are the settings for your Traders Dynamic Index? The settings on the one I downloaded from CompassFX (copyrighted 2006) can be changed.....I can change periods on the Input tab and can change colors on the Colors tab, so I'm not sure what version you have. The settings on mine are 13 0 34 2 0 7 0. Does that match the settings on the one you are using?

This is what my tdi looks like cannot change a thing. I got the free tdi copyright 2011.I can only change colors and what shows up. Dll inputs need to be checked in the box to see anything on screen.

Hale-mary, You can use the indicator at the post # 1 of this trade. Must be sure that the size of the window to allow good visualization of the indicator.

Hello Vantage and Phx62,

I hope you have the time to give a brief reply to the following:

A while ago, Vantage, you mentioned that the "big boys" viewed the 200 ema as something like their 'most significant indicator'.

In your post today, Phx62, you grouped the 200 ema with PA and TDI crosses as being important in your decision-making.

I assume the 200 ema is used as floating s/r and trend indication. Is there anything else that you use it for, or know that the "big boys" use it for?

Actually, Dcginc is the one who got me interested in testing and researching the 200EMA, even though I had heard about it for years......so far, it has proven to be a very good floating S/R indicator.....still doing some backtesting to determine how to use it most effectively.

Hey, I too am a south african living in Dubai. The timing here is perfect for trading, we can catch both london and new york sessions without havig to stay up all night or waking up really early. London session from 12:00-21:00 and the new york session from 17:00.

Hi Phx,

Considering the current break through the 200ema, how would you handle this for a trade entry.

Currently the price looks like it has broken the 200ema, would you enter now? I can imagine there is a fine art in knowing whether price will reverse and bounce back upwards...Recent support level to the left would need to be broken for an entry I would imagine.

All indicators are lagging including TDI and SMA. Most of the time any indicator work in conjuction with S&R.

Today at H1, price bounced from 200SMA but rebounded laters to the next support at 1.3164.

Interesting to see how price run between support and resistance like a drunk person.

This one too was played around S&R. At one point started stalling at 1.5771 but as soon as this area cleared, added more lots and price went straight to next support level.

Hi Everyone,
Just finish reading the ongoing discussion on TDI versions.
This topic was discussed in other thread here in FF.
In post#1, X-Man has downloaded the TDI_RT version which is now the most currect one used here for S3 method.
There is a slight difference this version compared to other older TDI versions. It can only be seen in realtime mode when you charts are running. In history they all look quite the same.
You got to try this yourslef to be convinced.
Just place the TDI_RT and any other TDI versons on the same EURUSD chart.
Keep your MT4 running, DO NOT logoff or restart MT4.
DO NOt switch timeframe while it is running.
DO NOT run any other indicator or EA and script on this chart.
Let it run for many hours - ... while at it, observe very closely how the TDI lines changes when price start to be volatile. Observe closely the crosses.
Enlarge your indicator window for better visibility. Try 'Ctrl' + 'A'.

Note: For this exercise, you may want to do this in M15 timeframe so that you can see more changes in shorter elapse time.
But DO NOT switch the chart TF while this is running. Reason is that both indicators will refresh and re-calculate everything in history.
Now this will make you think how you do your back-testing!

The realtime version does not change its calculation when you go to different timeframes. hence its history will match once it closes. Where as the older ones will have a different history. Let it run and you guys can see the movement change on it completely.
