It's a pretty safe and logical way of doing it... but you must have a momentum bar/candle into it.. So now I'm long at 18. Let's see how that goes.

Just try to get a feel for the current order flow and jump in and out based on that. Confluence of support and resistance is a big one for me though, especially when aiming for a swing play.
Well when I was referring to major S/R was in the context of your TFs. So M1 or yearly it doesn't matter, it has the same implications for what you were saying about HH and LL IMO, as long as your "major" S/R keeps correlation with your main TF (e.g M5 against S or R in M30/H1 for example, and not M5 against a weekly S or R, etc).

That was exactly what I was talking about. On the 5m, we had a HL with a bull candle to close the deal. Right at 18 it looks like.

The HL does give better r/r. The HH you need to wait for a pullback, but then hopefully create the HL and you've got yourself the best setup possible.

Well... You want to see a bounce off res. with a HL formed. I'm not sure the HH means anything. You also need a momentum bar from that HL..

Not saying, it can break anyway but it's not that safe trade I was talking about...

Then I grew up. It's a lot easier to take a 5 pip hit, reverse directions and make it back plus plenty left over.

If you trade the range, and set your targets properly inside it, it's actually very forgiving... You'll only be wrong once. I hate trending markets. 50-100 pips ranges are a gift..
