Hello to all at FF!
First of all to the moderators of the forum please excuse me if I post in the wrong area!
Now to the point and to my asking you for help: I have a problem with MT4, both from ibfx and from deltastock, which is that any indicator I download and try to run in the program does not even appear. They basically do nothing, not even the properties window appears. The OS is windows xp, the programs are installed in different locations, and after searching for this problem on google I couldn't come up with a solution.
If you guys need any more info please let me know and I will try to provide it to you.

If you guys need...
first you need to establish if they are EA (expert advisors) or indicators and ensure they are placed in the correct folders

EA's Crogram FilesForexAlpari Demo 1experts
indicators Crogram FilesForexAlpari Demo 1expertsindicators

will be something similar to this but may vary a little depending on the location of installation of the MT4 program

you then need to restart you MT4 platform for the library to update and for these items to show in the list

this is the most common issue - come back to us and let us know if this didn't help

How do you reset the acount history in MT4?

Assuming DEMO account ?

Only way to contact the broker and do that, easier to just open another and recharge with $$$

Ok Thanks, Yes it's a Demo, I wanted a clean slate because I will be forward testing a new strategy,
just want to make sure the history belongs to the new strategy and not to the old junk trades
I guess I will open a new Demo acount then.

I'm reading the posts, did the search and I am still confused.
I have no problem loading the mq4 files and compile them into Meta

However, in the big thread "Trading Made Simple" -
only an ex4 file was given - how do I load this into my metatrader platform???

save it into the same folder as the mq4 would go, if you look into the file system you will see both ex4 and mq4. mq4 is the open source file, once used, an ex4 will be created - many people only share the ex4 in order to protect there code. the ex4 file will work in the same manner as the mq4.

Thanks MPP!!! I'm new to the site and MT4 platform so it's been a very steep learning curve.

Maybe yes, maybe no!

If you just want a platform that will place trades easily and quickly including simple mechanisms for calculating stops and limits, in either pips or prices, then no. There are better platforms out there to do that.

But if you want a platform with multitudes of indicators and/or EA's, and a platform that is easy to program yourself for your own strategies and perhaps even robots, then yes!

And there are many free add-ons that try to overcome its actual trading shortcomings. In addition, there is a vast community of traders all over the net using MT4, with all sorts of available free add-ons and strategies, etc.

There are other packages out there that offer all of these facilities, and some of them higher quality, if you're willing to pay for them. And they are not necessarily cheap. MT4 is free.

definitely no, whats good with MT4 is that it's free and there is a lot of indicators and EAs also free, but it's far from the best, if you want a really good platform you are going to have to pay monthly fees for it and probably first buy it, such as esignal, Ninja trader there are alot of good trading platforms out there but they all will cost you. the advantage is better historical data, better charting, some have real time news from bloomberg and reuters, etc,

Maybe I’m off topic, but… help me, please… J

I need to change the color of open-order line, depending if it is buy or sell.
The solution is an indicator or script, I try to search but I never find it.
Sure Mt4 are able to do the graphic difference between buy/sell order,
‘cause each open order line have on the left “buy” or “left”.
Do someone of you use this indicator or script?

I need it, ‘cause I work by edge strategy
and often It’s easy have on the same cross (and chart) 100 open orders,
all with the same color and so It’s difficult to understand the position.

hello,
many believe EA don't work in renko no timeframe offline charts.
my question is if EA don't work in renko charts then You could have a script attached to the renko chart that writes signals to a file. the EA, attached to an online chart, would read those signals from the file and act accordingly.
is it possible ?
