DislikedThe game for me the next weeks will be to ride some intervention from Swiss National Bank -SNB- and Bank of Japan -BOJ-
Like fishing you never know when you get the big one.
Like fishing you are happy when you get one.

Cold here in Sweden but sunshine.
I post this just to make one small note to all Technical traders. "it is crucial to keep an eye on large fundamental developments that can change the trading landscape."Ignored
DislikedWhat is your take on the AUD? I'm a fundamental trader myself as well. I'm shorting it, but it has been painful because of the swap, and it has been very strong lately. We'll see if that strength gets weakened on 1st week of Feb. I hope it will.
I also have a long position in the USDJPY in the low 76.30s. Like you said, most of the Japanese companies are not making money now with the strong Yen. And last week, they had their negative trade balance, which is an ominous sign, in my opinion.Ignored

DislikedYou wrote "As always good call". I say "Luck"
For long term trading you need to trade less big lots and bigger SL. So you give your trade some room.
Long term trading is following trends. So use simple trend following rules. Remember that trend following is enter and exit to late.

DislikedJust as info "Even though my focus on charts is longer term, my actual trading tends to be short term, with trades lasting anywhere from a day or two (in the case of losses) to a month or two."Ignored
DislikedThanks for answer.
Simple trend following rules?
I like reversal patterns like pin bars etc. If they occur at "good" levels its enough for me to take a trade, Maybe combined with RSI.
I'm not too fond of MA's etc as I think they usually indicate a trend change too late.Ignored
DislikedI continue to rely solely on high/low/close bar charts in daily, weekly, and monthly form. I pay no attention to the myriad of numerous indicators have been developed in the past 20 years, such as stochastics, moving averages, relative strength indicators (RSIs), Bollinger bands.
It is not that these methods of statistical manipulation are not useful for trading. But the various indicators are just that —statistical manipulations and derivatives of price. My attitude is that I trade price, so why not study price directly?

DislikedHey Sey!
So I started to do some analysis on a pair i never traded before, USD/CAD.
Starting on the daily I pulled up a line graph to find S/R of interest. Dating back to May 2007 these are the levels I came up with:
1.2963
1.2048
1.1491
1.0716
1.0287
0.9769
0.9442
Some of these levels are far away from todays price yet been in play for the last five year. If you look at the 1.2963 level its been in play as long back as 1982!!

Around these levels I will look for patterns.
Today we are between to s/r...Ignored
