Hi Josh,

Yeah, there's some really nasty viruses going around that make it near impossible to recover your files without a huge amount of effort. Usually it's better to just reformat and reload O/S and programs from scratch. BUT, you've got to have backups of your personal files! Get yourself an external disk, and take the precaution.

Anyway, with respect to my indicators, the latest versions are going to stay posted AFAIK. You can always grab the latest of each from post #1 of my various threads.

To everyone else who said thanks, you're also welcome.

Now, i have some noob questions: on what time zone are set open/close hours? Local? Or broker?

Then most important, is there any way to save the settings so that if i place the indicator on a new chart i can set it like it was in the old one?

[EDIT] LOL i've just discovered a new world called metaeditor.... and that answers both of my utterly noobish questions!

Firstly, What a great indicator! A lot of very useful info in one place.

One issue I had was that anything related to AUDNZD (spread, range, etc.) was shown in "points" rather than "pips" for a 5 digit broker, ie. a spread of 23.5 was shown as 235, etc.

I only know as much about programing as I can copy from someone else, so I had to search & guess at the function that accounted for the 5 digit data.

As a result, I amended the following to correctly show data for a pair containing "NZD":

Also thought this function could be changed so common currencies do not need to be named to display correctly in 5 digits but don't know how to do it. My revision now works okay for my purposes.

Another thing, can you tell be if there is any significant diffence between "Average Range" (as in ADR, etc.) and the common "Average True Range" (ATR) oscillator? **Just noted the previous reference to ATR so I will read that first**

I was wondering if there was a script/indicator out there that could display whatever timezone you wanted via the crosshair cursor?

So wherever your crosshair was it would show local time instead of your brokers time....make in configurable of course.

I wish I could code, but thought I would ask.

Have been using P4lclock for a year or two. Just did a comparison between New York time and P4lclock Time using the website www.worldtimezone.net/index24.php.

I see difference of 1 hour. What am I doing wrong. It used to be accurate before. I know ur a good developer so I have been double checking my stuff but do not see a problem on my side. Tell me I am doing something wrong.....thks for a great tool has been very helpful of the past years.

I did an update just recently & I believe my version is running the correct times for the major locations (NY is currently on Daylight Saving Time).

I also made the following mod:

This related to the calculation of spread & range for pairs pairs other than JPY & Gold.

Check the attached and adjust to your broker time (mine is set at +2 GMT).

Have this set to display down one line from the top right corner (to allow indication of EA's). Think I coded this as default but can be changed when you apply it or by modifying code.

I also changed some location names, eg. China to Singapore, & something to Frankfurt....(my preference).

I'm not a programmer by the way - just looking & learning. Hope this helps.

Thks for ur quick response and help. I finally found why P4L version was not working....it was my fault....my Daylight savings time on Windows 7.0 was set to auto adjust, but in my country we ignore DST.

All is now Ok using P4L version.

This is a great indicator. Could you please make one change for me? When I increase the font size or type, the arrow with two dashes sometimes touches the candle. Could you remove the arrow and two dashes and allow a parameter to add just spaces? I increase the size for my middle-aged eyes.

Hi Tim,

Glad you like the functionality. While some of the edits could be done that make a bigger font work a little better, there is no one-size-fits-all solution that has occurred to me, and my schedule is such that I won't be making any edits to it in the near future, but you are welcome to muck around with it and experiment.

The only reason the issue is difficult to fix is that MT4 Text objects only allow the reference point to exist at the Top-Center of the text. Hence, I am using fixed-width fonts, and using leading spaces at the left of the text in order to shift the actual visible text further to the right. It would be easy to further shift the text with leading spaces but for the fact that MT4 only supports about 62 characters of text after which it trunctates it. Last I checked in the code, for *some* possible conditions (i.e. higher timeframes with
"WAIT4BAR"), I think I'm already up against that limit, so it will begin to truncate the text. (A previous version did in fact truncate the text so I eliminated some spaces for that; I don't recall how much leeway there still is, if any).

Shift the text origin a few "bars" to the right doesn't really help because the width of a bar as displayed varies drastically if zoomed way in or way out. It might look great at one zoom, and be completely wrong at another zoom.

If MT4 Texts supported "Top-Left" or "Bottom-Left" justification, it would be trivial to fix; unfortunately MT4 does not. (It does support these for Labels, but not Texts, and Labels cannot serve the same purpose in this code).

I use reading glasses too. So, I use >= 22" screens, and carefully choose the right prescription in progressive lenses that will sharpen the focus with a trivial tilt of my head up or down.

Or this is by design and it's not possible to do that?

I would LOVE that I like to keep my charts clean, and would rather have just a number to watch than a squiggly line over my MACD.

Below is what it looks like near the top of a chart. Zachery's idea to add another column to the right with "Close in X h X m" or "Open in X h X m" times is even better than having a separate indicator.

Is it possible to make an addition to the right of the Indicator-Panel:

- If a Market is still OPEN than please code: "Close in X h X m"

and

- If a Market is still CLOSED than please code: "Open in X h X m"

The clock is an indicator, and as such, it only executes one time through whenever there is a tick. There's no way to put it into a loop, and no way to force it to execute every second, for example. Therefore, the clock only updates irregularly. Best I can do.

It is of course possible to add CCI or other indicators but it's a custom job. I've no plans to update this indy for now, but I'll make a note of it for future consideration. No promises if-or-when...

Global3, your (first) image doesn't show up. (I now see your image after your edit). That said, the Clock already displays each market zone's "local" time. The clock assumes that all local markets are open from 08:00 to 17:00, with two exceptions: Sydney is 07:00-16:00, and Tokyo is 09:00-18:00.

I don't find it difficult, myself, to look at each market time and mentally know that it's coming up on "08:00", or "17:00", the two times of greatest interest. It's a bit clumsier to mentally translate whatever "time until open/close" into a broker time, but its not of high value to me.

To add for every timezone the notes "Close in X h X m" and "Open in X h X m" that you and Zack suggest would take coding effort, take up additional screen space, and add quite a bit of chart clutter IMO. Since market open/close times are mainly 08:00 and 17:00 which can be easily observed manually, I'm not inclined to put this on my list of future enhancements, but anyone is welcome to make any coding changes they desire.

Nice indicators. Here's an updated list of the exchange market opening time for different countries. Maybe you can consider to update the indicator.

Just some thoughts:

- Frankfurt is the main Exchange for Germany and Euro, so why not replace Berlin to Frankfurt for the P4L Clock.
- Why not include Zurich,Switzerland as well.
