Shooting star on the 30m, I'm short @ 1.03 looking to target 1.028 for a quick short term trade.

Another good option is long NZDUSD on a pullback to TL and/or pivot...

have you been in forex in 2006? 2007? 2008? i was there doing carry trade. no dice. carry trade isnt gonna work for you unless you staybthere for 10 years.... carry trade? ba humbag... if you want go ahead.. carry trade for me dont make sence making 4% per annnum when the pair itself is worth 10% less in a month...

If you read it a bit more carefully, there is one more clause in that sentence -- "unless disaster strikes". In 'more normal' circumstances, of course anyone is welcome to fight the force of nature as he wishes and pleases.

IMHO, retail trading is about hitching a hike and a ride on the tailcoat of big money. They don't jump their gun on some simplistic interpretation if a certain piece of news means the fundi is bleak.

The only time that it will be a bear party for aussie is when risk in equities collapses.... otherwise, this pair is most of the time well supported. But I am not inviting anyone to sign up to the same view.

I have really got a lot of laughs over the last few months reading all these post about the audusd. I really have a good time reading all the information about trades from its seems like a tremendous amount of novice traders to put it as nicely as I can. Most people in here really have no clue how to trade currencies and make a killer living doing it.

Listen my friends timimg is everything and all the in between stuff makes no difference inthe trade.If you cant figure out when the best times to trade forex is than get out of the market. I am so sick of hearing everyone get upset because it was supposed to do this and that and it didn't well guess what SO WHAT. Adapt and overcome. The real traders know this and turn the trades in there favor. I am slowly getting less and less interested in this forum. Not only do people here not really know how to make 250,00o K a year trading but most are trading mini lots and looking for a few dollars here and there. Correct me if I am wrong but it just seems like a waste of time.

If carry was the secret, why not just long the highest interest currency and short the lowest?

Highest woyld be AUD for one and lowest would be JPY or CHF...

Long audjoy, long audchf for 2011 was a big loser...


"unless disaster strike" is just an "escape clause" of course it explains it becuase there is an escape clause... unless this unless that escape clauses are marvelous... love it... always have escape plan...

SPX is the simplest. no escape clause, nothing. it explains the move exactly, no escape clauses...

Actually, aud/jpy has been a favourite carry play by many funds (and for many years the favourite toy of many Japanese housewives). Some funds manage their positions in a calculated complex way that they can hold through some big drops, and they only short AUD through options. But that's a different matter. For people to trade that way, it's not a matter of simple long or short.

And because of this carry, some others also look to aud/jpy as a gauge of risk sentiments of big funds.

I am a passer-by on this thread and did not expect such a conversation. As I said, I am not inviting anyone to sign up to that view. Personally I mainly trade ES nowadays with a bit of currencies. I am sure each one has his or her own approach and understanding.

any one have any technical analysis on this pair? i think it rallied up to 1.3 and has hit some majoy resistance, my opinion would be shorttting it for atleast 50-100 pips soon, anyone else?

Carry trade is only profitable if the currency is moving in the right direction...

The AUD/USD has already moved 140 pips over the Asian and London Session. Its approaching the 50MA on the Weekly chart at 1.0378 and the most recent high of 1.0380 on the Daily Chart. With such a strong resistance, is it time to short this pair?

1.0380 is indeed a strong technical resistance.
if it closes above this level, its gonna be 1.0500 easy.

there are lots of positive data popping left n right SPX future is +22 as of this writing. halleluya HOPE is in the air..

im long aud not for the swap, but for the simple fact that thinks are perceived positive starting the year... im waiting to short EUR though at 1.3150
