I have 2980 as a first possible point of capping the retrace.
3023 likely.

Just wish we could get a little steam behind the movements here.

plus the obligatory 20 to 30 pip penetration of a previous major swing low...

momentum and volumes just didn't feel like a major low today, wouldn't be surprised if the year closes on the low, only 24hrs or so to find out...

that pierce + hammer on the lt is a bad sign for shorts.

was just saying, very nearly bought 2860, just wanted it a few pips lower sub 50, but it didn't feel like a bottom at the time, although it's rarely signposted with a flashing neon light, sadly...

Hey Bro. On the Daily chart, the clear picture is showing a correction type of move involving abc moves within a channel . This is what I am looking at . After the bounce is finished ( below 2980 would be nice ) we should be going for the bottom channel line at 2700 . Next # to the downside is 2586, 2456 and
2400

in any case i think we could be near to a major inflection point, down over 2000 pips off the yearly high...

seeing some bullish divergence on daily macd...

one new years resolution is going to be to get back into the habit of doing thorough and comprehensive technical and fundamental analysis on a daily basis, have been getting a bit slap dash lately...

Beginning of 2011 to May saw about 2000 pips up, so maybe it is time to reverse it again.

Mean reverting and all that. Although, dammit, why did we have to close below the previous swing lows. To me that just says were going even lower. I need a close above 3197 before I consider longs 'with the trend'.

yeah agree, and even so, a drop of that magnitude is unlikely to turn on a dime, likely at least a month or two of consolidation and accumulation...

however if we do go through these levels, then we could potentially drop another 1000, a retest of 1.18xx by mid 2012 (or earlier) is not totally inconceivable, especially if the ez debt crisis doesn't get a resolution, since usd side qe3 is looking to be now off the menu...
