I don't know about alien stuff but here's a simple truth... They say that if we stop to exist today, in 100 000 years there will be NO TRACE our civilization ever existed. NOTHING.

So a previous human civilization is not out of the question.

An alien could land on our planet and give an inaugural speech and people still would not believe it.

I think the problem we have is that for some reason, we think past civilizations were not capable of advancing thoughts/ideas/concepts through trial an error. We do not give them enough credit.

Although, aliens would be sweet too. I personally don't know how anyone can say with a straight face that in the entirety of the universe, we are the only life. Basic statistics show that life is probably pretty common, albeit long distances between space and time separate us.

When you have billions of galaxies, that contain billions of stars... yeah.

hehe... we are not so persistent are we... it is all dependent upon technology advances and it's ability to shield us from global extinction.

Who knows... maybe this is the 100th time mankind has reached our current technological level, but we never advance quite far enough to protect our self, because we are to busy fighting and killing each other instead of working together.

I got lectured the other day by someone who told me that trading the markets was a sign of the beast and that I am playing on the wrong team for the end of days.

Ignoring the fact that markets have been traded in some form of another since any bit of exchange took place (goods or currency based)... I had no reply... completely dumbfounded. lol

talking with a long time friend, more than 20 years ago, civilized inteligent dude (yup, i got some that arent LOL) and i "squeezed" out of him that he thinks the whole economy problem we are facing here is our (the markets) fault. i tried to argue but he wasn't really listening...

Yep... I know it exactly. Why is it so hard to get someone who thinks logically into office. With reason, plans, and solutions. I do it every day in my job. Obviously not on the same scale... but still. I don't develop a brand new system off of a voice in my head.
