Hello Vantage,
My ignorance re the above has surprised me. Big E has made great play about how he loves an up cross of the TDI below 32 / down cross above 68, and X-man's H4 Swing method relies on the green touching or piercing the blue bands and this happens mostly below/above 50. From a quick look back on the Daily, it seems that most of the trend takes place on the other side of the 50 to the initial cross. I assume that's the case with all time frames.
I haven't looked into the workings of the TDI. I'm just grateful to X-man and Phx62 for showing...

Bit pressed for time, put TDI on your daily chart with 50 level on, it should be pretty clear.

One of the most prolific writers of ea's here at FF has a standard filter, above D 50rsi buy only, below D 50 rsi sell only. That SHOULD tell you something.

As you say it came as a surprise to you how much of the move happens on the right side of D 50 rsi.

As I said in earlier post, knowing that you have lots of ammo to check on 1hr trades, confident that you are on right side of D.

Anyway I have 2 company financial year ends to do and precious little time so cheers for now.

so in trying to determine what trade to take/or bias to have...I am having a bit of trouble in trying to make out the direction of the trend.

I have the daily shi channel channel on my 1 hour chart....it is the orange line angled up (it is difficult to get the whole channel to show up on the 1 hour chart but what you see is the bottenof the channel that got broken.

Then we have the 60 ema...price is still below.

It looks as the price is turning but I am not sure...how to interpret this

D is down, tdi crossed lower, pa stalled at a proven support level back to Nov '10 if I recall right.

1hr crossed up but no real conviction in move up.

IF you were to buy you need to go down to lower TF's to get in much nearer the low, or you risk pips getting in counter trend after a big push up (would prob end in tears that one), OR YOU LEAVE until chance of move up is much clearer to you ie definite turn on daily chart.

Given your recent stated confidence level prob best to leave all together.

Some time the turn will happen YOU DON'T have to get the exact place right to do well.

IF you make a decision to leave poss buy trade and walk away, you then have NO REGRETS IF it screams up. You stated that the current situation is not clear, so accept it as that. Don't trade wait till things are clearer and accept thats what your analysis says.

X...please correct me if I'm wrong

In staying with the S3 format.

The SHI channel is set for 1440 (daily) and used to trade off the H4 TF. Not the H1.

True..but someone who knows more than me can always chime in and say..."This is what you are failing to observe" or say "It is clear because of x,y,z...you are not taking the correct things into account"

Hi Mary
I agree someone can say trade now for x y z reason. If they do perhaps you can learn from the comment. You don't know how they are trading and you don't know how many times they have been completely wrong in similar situations.

Its human nature to remember the wins and forget the losers.

You are working to put together a method that will work on an on-going basis. Not a once off counter trend win.

Mary,

If you have a 50, 60, 100, EMA on your EUR/USD chart...zoom out to see at least 3 days...

It should be very clear which direction the EMA is travelling.

I realise this may have against the view of some traders on this thread, but i saw the signals, so i entered.
Closed + 20 pip's.

Hi X-Man & traders,
Whenever I try to drag an attachment from here (Indicators, templates etc) I get a shortcut not the actual indicator. The shortcut opens up a blank tab. I usually have no problems with installing indicators so can anyone tell me what's wrong? Thanks for help!

Here is what I use it might help someone, but it's
a bit different than X-Man teaches. But very close
and it gives you the trend.

4 ema shift 2 typical. blue
5 simple ma close. green
15 simple ma close. yellow
30 simple ma close. red

Kinda like the stop light system. (green,yellow,red)

Although the TDI has not confirmed yet?
Is it better to wait for another 1 hour and see how TDI respons to this?

My understanding is yes. The green TDI has curled over and is pointing down. I entered short at the beginning of the hour.

Chixie,

First of all you don't trade against the red line. That is the
long term trend line.

You trade with the green line. But if price is going towards the
yellow line that is caution. You trade away from the yellow
and red lines.

green = go
yellow = caution
red = stop

or

green = short term trend
yellow = intermediate term trend
red = long term trend

It gives you all three trends. I've traded with it a long time and
it's pretty accurate. But you need to watch it for a while and
see how it reacts to everything.

Hope it helps you...

snarlyjack
