well, i was wrong... now i am short... still doesnt make sense seeing they expected the rate cut... normally that is already figured in the price???

Only half+1 economists called for a rate cut.
So only half+1 is priced in.

maybe Teddicus hit it on the head when he said not expecting a cut during busy xmas season. Also remember, we are paired with the USD so we are not an isolated currency. That idea of a united effort to provide liquidity to Europe got the market excited and USD got sold off. It will obviously drag other currencies with it. That idea has all the potential of Hitler in heaven in my opinion. The IMF apparently doesn't have the money to bail Europe out, The Fed reserve is apparently the only one providing real money to Europe also. It's just a festive con I feel.

Today 0.25pct cut is the start.. We will be sub 4.00pct in 2012..

The question remains will the commerical banks pass on the cuts?

Come on you tight bastards.. I want a decent xmas pressy !

Supports 1.0180 1.0130 1.0080 1.0030.. is there a pattern forming here?

mpurdy - not when it comes to interest rate announcements. Unless everyone is expecting, which they were not by looking at this thread, there is room for movement

The Euro and Pound dropped a lot more yesterday than the Aussie due to the impending Aussie cash rate decision. It stifled any potential move yesterday. We are now just catching up.

the 80 seems to be the key support area, if we break it can safely see 59 (monthly supp) and possibly 51 the daily S2

its a waiting game at this point, no orders coming in, come on London

0403 GMT [Dow Jones] RBA's rate cut was largely priced into the AUD, though the unit could weaken further once London trading kicks in, says Deutsche Bank FX strategist John Horner. The strategist says while any AUD/USD, AUD/EUR dip is a buying opportunity, it's likely there will be more sustained losses on AUD/CAD, AUD/NZD "given the contrast in what the RBA is doing this week in cutting rates and given the Bank of Canada and RBNZ where they are very likely to be on hold." The AUD/USD is trading at 1.0202.
