DislikedOn the FA side, Germany is a fantastic case for economic textbooks. In the worse crisis ever, with the whole world flirting to collapse, bankd downgrade, risk, etc, etc and they manage to print fantastic unemployment numbers (thats why the small rally this morning).... While the US and UK for example keep printing and devaluing like mad and only benefiting the stock markets while unemployment ticks UP, the fiscal & monetary responsible (and even stubborn for some) Germany reduce unemployment ....

Dislikedwell "everybody" says the ECB will have to print to get the zone out of its mess and Germany says naw, homie don't play dat, but the mixture of fiscal austerity and massive unemployment/uncompetitiveness in various sunny corners is poison and sooner or later die Deutche will taste that if they don't change their tune. I know there are stark historical underpinnings to the anti-QE Weltschauanung in Germany but Angela et al will have to decide whether or not they want to be right or be broke. I sure as shit am glad I'm not in politics...Ignored

DislikedYeap. Agree, You just defined. That's the price to pay to be in a monetary union without a fiscal one so they have to decide.
From what it seems in latest developments, Greece and Portugal are pretty much disposable. The only thing stopping that trigger is not having the legal and political framework within the EU/EZ to avoid contagion and collateral damage in the EU as a whole. Next week meeting will be telling in that sense but the details will come in march (kicking the can, one more time).
