This is just my take, so take it with a grain of salt.

Boj has seen their intervention fail time and time before... there was a time they ruled their roost so to say and Intervened successfully years ago, times change.

Instead of wild rides that they know will fail, specially in light of the current world economy and safe haven flights, they have drawn a line in the sand and buy all south of the low 76's...... every now and then they will fire a shot when they see the orders lined up for a quick spike pissing off a few select.

But they are just holding the line till the storm passes and then normal mean revision should take them back into the 80's. I memory serves, I read sometime back they have 85 as the minimum their Corp's need for exports.
