DislikedWhat's your secret man? been trying to quit for weeks now. I'm on the chewy at the moment, it's just not strong enough. I've got an addictive personality so when I do something I tend to over do it a little. It's treated me well in my trading but not so much in my health.
I don't understand the people that say trading helped them quit smoking.
Loving these markets right now...

DislikedYeah... RJ is right. the gum and patches don't work. You just need to be Austrian school about it and take the pain up front, none of this Keynesian BS.
I did a few things at once.
I stopped drinking coffee and alcohol because there's no way I could drink and not smoke. It's just too connected for me.
I joined a gym. I hate the gym. But I started running and am up to 6k a day now. running will learn you not to smoke. But I can't believe I'm up to 6k already. I was winded after 2K the first day. But I push it.
I've been sucking on ice and...Ignored
Dislikedi remember when i quit smoking some years ago, the difference to the former trials was, that they were all trials and in the end i just really wanted it ... and yes, there is a vast difference in motivation, action and consequence between 'wanting to quit smoking' and 'wanting to live a healthy life'

DislikedI quit 10 months ago. It was my third attempt. First attempt was the gum stuff....failed after 3 months. Second attempt was the patch thingees.....failed after 1 month. Third attempt was sheer will power. I just decided one day 'fuck it......NO MORE'......and I threw the packet of smokes in the bin. I have never smoked again.
Sometimes I do feel like a smoke.....but I instantly do something else like (say) go clean my teeth......eat an orange......suck a peppermint.....anything to break the thought process. Within a minute or two the yearning...Ignored

DislikedThanks for the tips Fudo RJ and SH! I always ask other ex-smokers what they did to quit because only they can relate. Lot's of good ideas in there cheers.
Love the idea about the jar of tar and the jar of Money lol
My old man recommended the gum, dam if he can quit anyone can, although he still bums them off me every now and then but doesn't buy his own.
I went on the patches a while ago and they worked a treat... for one day, then I slowly started smoking again, it was like starting all over again, 1 then the next day 2 then the next day 4 etc...Ignored
