No one is saying not to post problems here. What we're saying is that it is not Justin's full-time job to be reading a third-party forum, so problems should be raised to MBT directly if it's an ongoing issue. If Justin is out for a few days, as happened recently for his newborn child (congrats), people freak out when they post issues here that don't get fixed.

If ForexQuant was nice enough to do their job in testing whether the network is working properly or not, by all means I welcome his post. If he wants to post, nobody here has the right to tell him not to post it and to go directly to MBT. This is a public internet forum and by all means he has every right to post the problems here. You should be thankful that he found out what the problem was. It may have taken MB half a day to figure it out.

not sure what the big fuss is all about

its not like they are taking away the regular way they offer to trade--- via paying commissions

they are just opening a new option for traders that do not want to pay commissions and offering a slightly higher spread

and still allowing them to bid and offer.

probably a great business move for them and i doubt it will hurt any of the pay commission people.

I doubt i would go that route unless the spreads are very comparable

as i bid offer most of my entries and get the rebate

i will be interested to see how tight they are compared to the way it is now.

i also would not trade on mt4---- i dont like it for trading, only for charting.

if they are really pretty close and they offer it for the desktop accounts it may be an interesting thing to look into

ForexQuant,

You are a bit wrong here.
First, you are pinging their web server www.mbtrading.com (that's the one that serves their page) and has absolutely nothing to do with their trade servers. You might as well ping www.yahoo.com or any other domain.
Second, you can only make a statement about any server you are pinging with 100% certainty if you are on the same LAN with as few switches as possible (preferably 1 switch) to eliminate possibility of any routing errors in switches between you and the server you are pinging.
I'm not defending MBT here, but you need to understand the difference between a web server and an application server. You can get IP addresses of MBT trade servers and I can help you with that if you'd like.

Regards,

Justin,

I got a frequent disconnection on MT4 again. This time the MBT server performance is even worse because I detected 15% of packet loss! The tracert log indicated that the problem is definitely on your server! Please fix it before the small problem becomes a disaster.

Of course i did check with other domain to confirm that the problem was not on my network. I also checked the routing error just I did not post a screenshot here, again. If you have done the tracert check from a photon vps (Just a few blocks from MBT server) then you will know that the problem was began at 10th hop (address is something like mbtrading.xxx.xxx.xxx) before reaching their trade/web server at 13th hop.

Anyway the problem seems resolved, for now. Thanks for your advise.

hi justin, is the new minimum deposit to fund account 200 $, as it says here:

http://www.mbtrading.com/forexDeposits.aspx

what about, if i open an account in euros. is the minimum deposit still 200 $ or is it then 200 €, since the account is in euros?

To open an account the minimum is $400. If you want to deposit more money after that then the minimum you can add is $200.

thank for the quick reply, appreciated. then it doesn't matter in which currency your account is denominated, you always have to fund it with at least 400 $? not that i'm stupid and i don't understand your reply, but i would really like to hear it from justin, just to be sure. i don't want to make any mistakes at account creation

Leeon,

400.00 of the base currency of your account is the minimum deposit, not $400.00 equivalent.

Sold EUR/USD few minutes ago, order stuck for 2 minutes, still not completed.

Price moves down 25 pips.

Cancel order. It says: canceled by client.

Checking MT4, see no open positions. Pissed that I lost a trade, but whatever... (also MBT execution times started to suck lately).

Restarted MT4 > See EUR/USD sell position is now open and I am at minus few pips.

Not cool guys, not cool.

Same with all those "Off Quotes" messages, can't see profits unless I restart MT4.

You have to fix this.

hi Justin LeBlang,
I am from Vietnam and consider opening anccount with MBtrading, there's not Vietnam in your country list. Does it mean MBT doesnot allow opening accounts from Vietnam.

Hello Justin,

thank you for the update.
I experience a longer outage than what you describe. There were two different problems ocurring, first the order server was completly down (connection indicator was red), after a while the connection worked again but there was a second problem - the Desktop reported "Trading temporarily unavailable for account XXXXXXXX...", i restarted the application several times and finally after around 6:15 it started to work again.
The account involved is a live account with MBT UK.

cheers
Robert

FXCM stopped its price feed two hours before other brokers. Until that time, all other brokers had spreads way lower than FXCM. We can't compare the spreads shown at 19:00 GMT with those from 21:00 GMT before Saturday.
http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/6691/spread.png

Here's a snapshot with the daily average spread for the last 7 days. FXCM is the worst out of all.

FXKing,

Yes, quotes are the same. It all points to the same place whether the account is with UK or US.

Now, we have just updated our website to offer the new FREE ECN plan, so there are two different sets of pricing, and you can get either from the UK or US sites.

But the bottom line is that it doesn’t matter if you come from UK or US. If you are on our Pay for Limits plan, you see the same quotes from either. If you are on our FREE ECN plan, you see the same quotes from either.
