Yeah, I knew it was going to tank. The broad, deep market that is retail forex evidently took it as a surprise that which the WSJ, DJ, and Slovak TV's English live blogs were reporting all fecking day: the vote would be no.

All politics is ultimately local, and this was no exception: some of the opposition parties with enough votes to ratify will join the government and do so, but only when they get the domestic agenda items they will horse-trade for the votes.

All theater; nothing is changed, and the Program To Save Europe is not at all in any danger from this.

In the real world, you could safely fade this move, because it's stupid. But this is the EUR and now is today, and every move is just a gestalt: nothing makes sense, so believe the move and nothing else. Even if it reinforces the lunacy, at least it's more profitable than the alternative of trying to behave intelligently.

Rant over. Back to reading the blogs.
