just the opposite is true on the bullish side above 1678.55... and even stronger above the white dotted ascending line. we will go to one of these. the lines or levels are the target..on the other side of them is the risk for a bounce. its also the direction to be on if they continue (but a bounce is expected and drawdown can be large so wait for the bounce) .

my guess is gold traditionally goes higher this time of year. do to Asian weddings in India. Plus traditions in gift giving from now through Dec. if this is the case...

From an interview with Russell Napier (sourced on Z H; on Bloomberg):

Napier put his finger on today's market pulse when he said that investors will paradoxically like a bank nationalization as it will remove uncertainty if only in the short-term. "It is a very negative long-term thing for Europe" he says, but adds that "speaking to investors at the CLSA economic forum they are so convinced the euro is going to collapse that when it doesn't collapse, the market will probably go up." That said he concludes, "this is a major structural turning point and a bad thing for return on capital in Europe."

Just what we were saying late this morning. The markets are completely cutting all fundamentals loose if they have no effect on the next 24 hours. I've honestly never seen anything like it.

"...a bad thing for return on capital in Europe." Return on capital? If the currency itself has 15 vol, it isn't about return on capital; the worry is return of capital. That's the basic structural flaw in the "we can save anything with enough CB intervention." When the rug is pulled from basic business economics, and replaced by artificial volatility and debt beyond repayment abilities, then nobody invests; everybody speculates in a game of musical chairs. And the volatility enters a feedback loop.

I'm convinced that if Lord Keynes himself could see what is going on in his name, he would beat them like the dandy does the horse in Majix's gif file. His theories were about pump priming: spur aggregate demand and grow out of it.

Now the pumps are burned out, and it's about sandbagging to keep the river from going where it naturally would course. Abraham Lincoln is credited with saying, to Sec. Stanton on learning of the casualties at Gettysburg, that sooner or later the South would run out of men, and that was when the war would end. Sooner or later, the CBs will run out of acceptable credit, and only then will this end. That could be a long time.
