I love XP, I really do... BUT.. I prefer Win7 Ultimate 64 Bit which I have now. It was very hard for me to make the jump to Win7. I have run every Win operating system except Vista. I skipped that one intentionally. Too many bugs. XP was very trusty. But with the multi core processors etc nowadays Win7 is the way to go. So much faster!! I do see Hanovers' point about XP. But, looking back, I'm glad I made the jump. I'm kinna curious about Win8 when it comes out, what improvements it will have etc. I'll take a look at it. Might stick with 7 though.. Time will tell.

Hard to go wrong with XP though. Too bad Microsoft stopped supporting it.

the trend seems to be that roughly every second release is a lemon. vista before win7, and win8 after win7. i forget the ones before xp but i know they are there.

XP was the unification of real OSes and pseudo OS sitting on top of DOS.

In the real OS arena we had Windows 2000, before that came, NT4, before that NT3.51 . . that's as far as I go back.

In the pseudo OS arena we had Win ME, before that it was Win 98, before that was Win 95, Before that was Win 3.11, before that was Win 3.1, that's as far back as I go with windows, before that I was using DOS 6.22, etc

There are also the Servers, currently 2008 R2, before that 2003 & R2, before that 2000, before that NT4, etc
20 pips a day isn't too much to ask . . .

personally I like win 7 because it is fast to get in to desktop

if you have some program that is unable to run on 32 bits. then keep windows XP.

if you are not play games or downloading too much stuff, then any version of window is good enough.

still remember DOS 6.22

Count me in. May be for more yrs, till we see a really XP'ERIENCEABLE OS & not just the VISUAL crap!

My own PC (some 8mths old) is using
- XP PRO x64 Edition (Had Dual boot with Win7, Removed after 30 days)
- 16 GB of 4 Stick DDR3 Corsair (XMS3) (1600Mhz XMP)
- Intel i5 750 (OC'd to 4Ghz)
- ASUS Mobo (Forgot model, 4 DIMM, 6 ch. HD AUDIO, OC functions, multiple slots (PCI x16, x2, simple), IDE slot too for my old DVD RW)
- 2 ATI GPU's (HD, 3 slots each, HDMI, DVI and RGB)
- 2 23'' Samsung Full HD LCD monitors (Horizontal; Side by Side)
- 1 SSD -128GB (KINGSTON SSDNOW) (Runs OS & All trading software including MT4; All Data and testing on other HDD. Other data intensive un-necessary software's having cache & stuff in HDD.Point being SSD life. THE DIFFERENCE IN EXPERIENCE IS HUGE)
- 2 HDD - 1TB each (SEAGATE 7500RPM)
Though I use VPS n stuff too

Hope that helps.
