The threads you read on FF are designed to give you the basics of the system, a guide so to speak....I here a lot of people say that he has this huge ego and they think that he doesn't want to listen to anyone's opinion and that is a bunch of crap. And that is to say that unlike 98% of all other systems posted around here, what Mer and I present in our respective breakout threads are actual systems with proven money-making potential. In other words, we are in here literally giving away for free what so many other so-called Forex mentors will charge you $9,999 for in a banquet hall seminar. And the only thing Mer and I expect in return is the basic respect of reading our entire thread before posting your questions. That's it. How much simpler can it be?

So yes, we get aggravated when some of you guys can't even do that. Some people only respect you after money has changed hands, even though that makes them a complete sucker. Some people realize a good thing when they see it. I can't speak for Mer, but I'm only here for the 2nd guy.

I agree, I asked a pretty basic question and found 1 of the answers rereading the thread. I apoligize!

The reason i like this particular thread is I trade breakouts as well. Entry points and stops to me are the most important aspects. The breakout itself is inevitable.

For me its how far do i let the trade get in the money before i set my stop even and let it ride till i see a reversal pattern (5 minute charts) and take my profit. I usually set my initial stop on a reverse pivot on the previous bar thus the reason i like to enter the breakout right after the previous four bars have been broken. Also i seem to have a higher percentage in succesfull trades when i short with 3 out of the last four bars being red and the fourth bar breaking below. You will notice that pattern in a lot of your trades.

Also sometimes i like to use the macd with stochastics. On the upside you
allow the stochastics to cross up below the twenty and your confirmation is th macd converging above the fifty which usually happens within 3 5 minute bars. You also will notice that when the macd crosses above the fifty after the stochastics have crossed to the upside above the twenty that particular 5 minute bar is usually the breakout bar. In conjuction with the paragraph above leaves a highly probable chance that you will be in the money at least 5 pips (depending on the spread)

Oh yeah the reason i enter breakouts as soon as they peak below is due to supply of orders (if your short stoplosses and new entry positions are hit within in five or so pips from the breakout. also this allows you to set a reasonable stop to allow the trade to work.

I can get as many as 15 to 20 highly probable trades a day with the low spread majors.

My question that i asked in a nutshell is how strict are you to a particular risk reward or do you play it by ear as the trade goes on. Do you allow certain trades more room to work or do you treat the system with strict entry and exit strategies?

I personally respect anyone with a question and would refer him to a place in the thread where it can be answered at the very least. Especially a growing thread like this one. But thats just me.

I hope your predictions on your trades are better then your predictions on how this thread would turn out LOL!

Also i totally agree with what you were saying about your strategy not being sexy whatsoever but very profitable. When i tell people about my four bar strategy they would asume i'm an idiot until they see the results.

@FH - On the 30 day post mortem you posted on the 17th (post 1372) you listed out lots of winning trades, plus a few losers based on a 35 pip TP and concluded that the system would have been very profitable over the back-tested month.

However, there are lots of trade signals which you clearly didn't include in the list which would have been losers. It's a bit difficult to see on the image because the bars are very small, but am I correct in saying that the filter you apply is something like this:

Only take the first signal off a newly formed CZ and if it fails, ignore further signals in that direction and wait for the first signal in the opposite direction. If this also fails to hit TP, wait for a new CZ to form.

I'm not suggesting this is the ONLY filter you apply or there aren't other discretionary elements which come with experience, but would the above be something you advise, or at least sensible for beginners?

Using just the Squalou indicator and no other filtering, here is the rough pip count tally of the last 4 weeks. Two numbers separated by a "/" sign means there was a reversal later on the same day. Any number 35 or higher I consider an automatic money maker, and they are highlighted in bold. Any single day with a count of less than 35 would be considered a loss (although this rule would probably not apply to extreme scalpers). This is for the G/U M15 chart only:

This is now your 2nd or 3rd critical comment in a row. And during that same time, Flamenco, me, acfuk, Anderson, Mer, and a couple of others, have been posting our wins. Acfuk is current riding a 100-pip trade, in fact.

So you can keep wondering about the system, or you can start trading it. But your questions won't really get answered until you get your feet wet. Ball's in your court.

FH - I'm not being deliberately critical at all. I believe it's a great system and works brilliantly for loads of people here. Just not me. Which is why I asked the question about the trade filter. Just a simple question, not a criticism of the system, yourself or anyone else here.

If the answer to my question is, 'no, that's not what I do', then that's cool and I'll go away and try and work out my own plan with the system. I'd just really appreciate an answer from yourself or one of the other experienced guys here.

I don't understand all this cloak and dagger stuff...is it not getting a bit silly if you can't ask questions on what's meant to be a teaching thread?!

By the way, I wasn't going to ask the question at all, as I expected a hostile response, but your own post says:

"If anyone has anything negative to say about this system and why it's not worth using, please speak up. I'd love to hear your views. No joke, I really would."

So I'm speaking up. Anyone listening? :-)

You are exactly right! You have to wonder why all the secrets. ForexHard shares his system. People spend the time reading ALL of his thread and try different combinations of this system and are unsuccessful. When they ask a question they are told to experiment on their own. Well, if they continue to do so and they are unsuccessful, they must not understand something. Maybe the teaching isnt that clear.
ForexHard claims he has achieved 90%+ success with this system. He says to keep you boxes to 2-3 a week and less than 30 pips and use 100 days and the 15 min timeframe. We have used the same settings he shows on his screen shots for the same pairs and the same timeframes. There just arent that many factors are their? So, how is it that we dont even come close to the same results? I also don't see too many people claiming a high winning percentage here. Yet, there are a lot of folks following the thread. So, I am guessing that everyone is having the same problems. ForexHard, why not put a simple survey up asking who is successful with the system and who isnt? That way we can see how the majority is doing over all.
Now, when I was in school, we were taught a lesson and we were given the homework and told to practice. If I was unsuccessful on my own, my teachers would work with me until it was clear and I understood. Even at the college and graduate level. They didn't keep things from me to allow me to learn. They aided me in learning. I still spent as much time, but I was able to waste less time on what DIDNT work and was able to focus my time on what DID WORK. We are wasting time on what isnt working. Why not just show us what DOES work?
I have followed along with my son who has been following this thread since inception. He struggles just like you and I. We are both highly educated and have a trading background and have spent over 10 years each trading. So, we are not new to all this.
ForexHard, we appreciate you sharing your system. But, if after trying it on our own, we arent having success, why is it you can't show us what you are doing for such a high rate of success? Of all the pairs that are possible to trade, just pick one. You seem to like the GU pair. Tell us what setting you are using and we can follow along an emulate your results and see exactly how the system is supposed to work. Then, we can spend our time focusing on all the other pairs and timeframes on our own.
We are not looking to be spoon fed. We are willing to put in the time necessary to learn. But somethingjust doesn't seem to be adding up. You are achieving high 90% winning percentage and we are lucky to get 50%.

Now, based on reading the entire thread, I expect to get banned for speaking my mind. Or I expect to be brushed off and told to figure it out. So, I am going to challange FH publically to just show us how 1 pair works on 1 timeframe.

Again, we appreciate your time and sharing, but enough smoke and mirrors already.... and putting the attitude in check might help too.

pixelboy, this #1372 pic is actually too small to see if there were a correct entryes... if you've got your indicator on this chart set and see some new looser trades then maybe you should make screenshots of them, highlight the area of interest and post it here...
I think then forexhard will gladly tell you his opinion on these trades... maybe they really are loosers or maybe we'll find that your chart&indy have some loose setings...
PS: i'm also just starting to get along with this system, so it would be very nice to see your trade setups screenshots commented by forexhard.
Niktesla - Sure, I'll go back and set things up as per FH's indicator and see exactly what happened on a bigger scale. Obviously, it won't match to the PIP because of feed differences etc. but it should be close enough.

I don't *think* I have any major indicator issues - I've been following FH's advice to the letter, but maybe I've buggered something up. Certainly won't be the first time!

I'll post some screen shots ASAP.

So far, all I really have you saying is stuff like "I don't see what you guys see".

But without actual charts, trades, or screen shots it's all just words and there is nothing I can do with just words. I need to see examples. Right now, I don't even know if you are using the Sq indi or drawing boxes by hand. And I have no idea what your settings are. Or which pairs you are looking at....

I would be even more impressed and willing to help if I saw you taking trades and trying to understand the rules by doing instead of by just reading.

All fair points. I have been more concerned with back-testing than forward testing, simply because it seems a huge amount quicker. My time is extremely precious and I was trying to do 'due diligence' on the system, if that makes sense. But I completely appreciate what you're saying about trading it live and posting results good or bad.

I'll do that from now on and look forward to your comments.

I'll also post screen-grabs of the trades that don't match up to your's as soon as I can together with a detailed break-down of the month as you did.

So all I am going to say is: Thanks for playing, and I hope that reading my thread all the way through wasn't a total loss. But not every system is for every person, and even if it was a complete waste of time you have gotten back exactly what I have promised: nothing.

Is my time worth less?

If you are going to make comparisons to anything done by me, then you need to make sure the settings all match up exactly. And even then there will still be discrepancies due to variants in broker feed. Just something to keep in mind for when you are tempted to say that I was off by 8 pips so why didn't I take this trade, or close that one, etc.

I am not going to presume answering for Forexhard - but I would personally like to respond to your criticism of his replies.

To paraphrase you claim he lacks giving specific answers to questions re: his win %, how he trades etc etc. You then give a lecture on how 'good' teachers respond to questions and help the student better understand what is being taught. I like you, have advanced degrees and been a trader for 17+ years.

Forex trading as you know is not cut and dried like learning say auto mechanics. There are many things you can be taught to do by someone 'perfectly' yet still not accomplish success continually. If you'll permit me, as an example let's take the military combat schools or courses. The aim, on everything you are taught and told is to stay alive. However, having done 2 tours in Vietnam and I can assure you, many of my friends did everything 'perfect' as they were taught, but it always didn't turn out 'perfect' for them. Some are buried in Arlington, some never even made it back.

As small time traders we are reacting always to what the Big Dogs have just done (or 'hope' they'll do). Many times I won't take a trade even if it meets the general criteria for entry because my 'instincts' are telling me not to enter. Or it could be based on how the 'entry'candle(s) formed, when they formed, and at what velocity.

I now see Forexhard has responded, and it is an intellegent response in my book. He doesn't mind questions, and he, like others here who ARE successful I am sure will be happy to help. If you are confused - just post a chart so we can look at it and hopefully come up with an answer you'll agree with or accept! OK?

I was not complaining, just pointing out a situation that exists.

Since my last post contained too much to address, I will simplify it down to the main point:

"Why can't show us what you are doing for such a high rate of success? Just pick one pair. Tell us what settings you are using and we can follow along an emulate your results and see exactly how the system is supposed to work. Then, we can spend our time focusing on all the other pairs and timeframes on our own."
