Settings: +5 tp, no stop loss, second order set to false.

sadly i can't set the tp to 5 pips, my broker (alpari uk demo) doesn't accept this. but 20 pips or so is too much for a tight scalper....

I hope I am not butting in here as I see there is already an EA in post 1.

xlitang pm'd me last week to ask me to code an EA. As it happens, I have just spent a couple of days coding something similar and writing a comprehensive user guide for it in preparation for release over the weekend. It has not taken long to modify the EA and the UG for this system.

See if the attached does the trick for you.

ok ok, i set up steve's EA already, was too curious about the results.

it runs on 8 pairs right now, but i often get error messages like this:
2011.09.23 11:39:32 '3249147': order buy 0.20 USDCHF opening at 0.90281 sl: 0.00000 tp: 0.00000 failed [Trade context is busy]

this means too many orders at the same time?

Yes, and it is an insoluble problem when several ea's might be trying to send a trade at the same time.

Alerts such as this one are for the coder rather than the user. I have removed the alert from the EA and re-uploaded it to my previous post. The problem is still there, but you will not know about it. Frankly, in this case ignorance really is bliss.

there are many small winners, but a few big losers completely wipe out the winners.
and something else: isn't it the rule, that the 2 last candles must have a body of minimum 4 pips? pls see the screenshot.

edit: right now i had a losertrade, hit stoploss at -60 pips! settings are default (stoploss 20, hiddenpips 20).. don't understand what's wrong..

I looked the EA code. For the trade setup, you use candle range (High and Low) instead of candle body (Open and Close). The rule is that two candle must have a body at least 4 pips. Could you please correct it?

Hello Guys,

I've been testing both of the bots for 10 hours now, left it on all the time.

The EAs get in and get out quickly, with a realistic SL and R:R ratio.. No big drawdowns, not a lot of stress, and also fun to watch hehehe... Exactly my cup of tea and I'm sure a lot of people reading this too!

All we need with this type of system is to have an edge and I think this system definitely has it!

Now, I think there are some steps that would make this bot an absolute success, and we can all help to achieve this:

- Leave the bots running 24/5 on several pairs with similar settings, find the pairs that are profitable and which hours they hit their winners. A great tool for analyzing this is myfxbook... I've already set up a demo and if you click on "summary" you can see which pairs are profitable and which are not... Also, you can sort out the individual pairs and check which hits winner trades and at what time of the day... Of course 1 day's data tells us nothing, so I plan to leave the bots on this way for two weeks and get to this type of conclusion:

- EURUSD x% win ratio, best hours X- Y GMT
- GBPUSD x% win ratio, best hours X- Y GMT
- GBPJPY not profitable

We can then start experimenting with different TP, TS SL settings, but I think that the main logic behind trade entry is sound and suitable for, at least, my personality when it comes to trading.

I use Stop Loss 20 Pips.

M5City PMed me to use Stopping volume to validate entry. Anyone know how to use stopping volume?

sorry for bothering...

but something seems to be wrong in steve's version with the stoploss. my understanding is: the ea sets the "StopLoss" value as hidden stop, and as hard stop it sets the sum of StopLoss + HiddenPips.

if this is right, then something is wrong, pls see the screenshot.

edit: i'am very confused right now. i'am testing around with the settings.

if i try:
StopLoss = 10
HiddenPips = 5

i get a hidden sl of 10 and a hard sl of 15.
everything fine.

if i try:
StopLoss = 20
HiddenPips = 10

i get a hidden sl of 30 and a hard sl of 40.
-> false, as described in my post. with smaller values everything is ok, but greater ones seem to cause this error..


edit 2:
me again...
i now have on all pairs the setting: stoploss = 20 and hiddenpips = 10 and i'm watching the bot. and i see new orders with different stoplosses. so it seems to depend on the currency, which sl is set.
gbpusd: hidden sl 20, hard sl 30 -> ok
audcad: hidden sl 20, hard sl 30 -> ok
usdcad: hidden sl 30, hard sl 40 -> wrong

I know this system is simple and it's supposed to stay that way, but I've been doing a manual, visual backtest on several pairs of a method I learned in an ADX ebook called "ADXcellence" by Charles Schaap.

There, he says that for this type of short term scalping an excellent guide is the 20 EMA. If price is above this EMA, go only long. If below, go only short.

Now, if we add a minimum slope requirements for this we got an excellent filter for this type of scalping, and even though it is a filter that limits trading it's a pretty simple and visual one.

Drop the 20 EMA on any of those M5 charts and you can see what I'm talking about My guess is that this type of filter would be a piece of cake for you to code into the EA as it is, with user defined EMA period and minimum slope requirements.

very good idea, this brings me to another one:
maybe instead of moving average better using the heiken ashi candles?
if red and 2 bodies with minimum 4 pips -> sell. if green and 2 bodies with minimum 4 pips -> buy.
i like the HA candles very much to indicate a trend.

I'm finding erratic behaviour with the SL's and TP values as well.

Regardless of this, the bot is managing to maintain itself at breakeven, so if this issues could be explained/solved it could be great.

ALL CHARTS SET TO:

TakeProfit=10
Scalp take profit= 10
Stop Loss=20
HiddenPips =20


examples:

AUDUSD

"Hidden" tp = 10
Hard TP = 30 ????
"Hidden" SL= -20
HARD SL = -40


GBPUSD
"Hidden" tp = 10
Hard TP = 30 ????
"Hidden" SL = -40 ????
Hard SL = -60 ?????

No idea why this is happening.

Also, as you can notice on the picture, Price went against my AUDUSD position pass the "hidden" SL line and the position hasn't closed. I haven't a clue on why did this happen.

Please I want to be clear: I'm not complaining about anything, and as I mentioned earlier, the bot is still managing to be profitable. Only providing my results in order for us to iron out the little details
