I wanted to post over the weekend but I didn't have a chance. I know it sounds like 20:20 rear view now, but it started to bake in solidly over the weekend.

First, the French banks were hit for better than 10% at the end of their trading days. Close enough to the close that they couldn't be bought back sharply.

Next, the long bond put on a half a point in its last half hour of trading, only fading two ticks in the last couple minutes, closing just off its day high.

Then, the Prime Minister cancels his trip to USA after getting as far as London.

Next, the Greeks have over 700M Euros in interest payments to make Tuesday. If you're going to default in the next six months anyway, why do that?

Finally, CDS all expire close of NY business on the 20th of the month. If the banks are net long (don't know), it would be a nice last day of trading lollypop to declare then.

Oh, and the EUR was sold down on size several times on Friday NY afternoon, only to pop back up on retail buying, right into the close.

Could all be coincidence, and anyway, now there's a gap to fill upside, right?
