Is your chart showing EU ? if it is , then its odd cos i tried the same settings and i'm not getting that box ..

Hi - I've been having some problems with the indicator (see attached screen shots). This is happening at random times - sometimes when I load up the profile after starting up MT4. Sometimes, the indicator will just randomly change and stop displaying some of it's lines and alerts.

I've downloaded the latest version, tried restarting MT4, and tried re-installing the indicator file, but it doesn't have any effect.

Removing and adding the indicator back to the chart fixes it for a while, as does opening up the indicator's settings and then closing the settings box (don't have to change any values).

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Any ideas Squalou?

Should have also said: I have the indicator running on eight pairs, all visible on the screen at once, in case that's having an effect on performance or causing conflicts.

Hey FH, this is slightly off-topic but I was wondering what's your sleeping/waking/working schedule? You're in the US like me but seem to mostly trade the London open and London-US overlap. This would be in the middle of the night for us.

Same here, but I still got the breakout prices labels in line with the last candle....

Started to read this thread yesterday and being breakouts one of my favorite trading settings it seems that this system might very well increase the odds towards success. Great job you've being doing here.

However, i beg of your patience, i've read many of the pages - not all, yet - but was unnable to find the requirements for the formation of the boxes (i've tested the indicator - seems great! - but i would like to know the "rough stuff"): what do you consider, in this system, to be consolidation?

Hi Polkm - There are no fixed rules such as: for this pair it should be less than x pips high by y bars wide. If you read through the thread you will see Forexhard makes suggestions and gives pointers but makes it very clear that:

1. You need to work through the thread yourself from beginning to end to fully understand it. I've just done this and can tell you it's very worthwhile.

2. For best results you need to start from scratch and manually play around with the small and large consolidation boxes (see post #1). It probably seems like a waste of time when we have the indicator, but it's not. It really gives you a feel for how the markets move in relation to the zones. Maybe it's not going to be valuable for a very experienced trader, but I'm fairly new to this, so it helped me a lot.

3. The default indicator settings are no more than rough starting values and that you need to observe results and make changes based on how your trades work out. Each pair and time frame is different. There are no easy settings to plug in.

I've just started this process myself and have already learned a ton in the past couple of days (such as, don't lie in bed until 7:30 GMT unless you want to miss all the damn break outs!!)

Hopefully if we all get stuck in and share our results here we can figure out the best settings over time.

Hi, are you still trading usd/cad with the stairstep breakout? After much sifting, usd/cad seems to me to be one of the better pairs for this method.

Do you have any recommended settings for the latest indicator?

And have you tried this on higher TF? Much thanks,

7:30GMT??? You Euros got it made! I'm in US EST, GMT-4. I'm at my screen at 5am every morning and I see all the breakouts I miss at 2-3am! If I ever go full time this will be a night job!

Anyone see GY M15 right now? I saw the consolidation but no box on the indi, so I adjust it slightly to show the box. It's a little tall for GY but it's because of that one long pin in the middle. It's over 9 hours long, in the middle of the week, so I think it's a good box. If it breaks up I'll only target about 20 pips because it will hit the bottom of the previous CZ to the left.

Edit: Also, the higher TF trend is bearish so be careful about taking a break against the main trend.

Just taken a short on CHFJPY. Looking for limited TP around level 1 as the price is hitting the bottom of the previous CZ. Hoping it will re-test yesterday's lows.

Try to refresh your chart by switch the TF to M30 and back to M15 after....

Watching the Euro which has been in a CZ since last night. A break long would be with the general (choppy) trend of the last few days.
