Absolutely, the main problem with some ECN Forex brokers is the liquidity. You enter a trade and BAM, the market could move against you fast but no one wants to bail you out and take the other side of your trade.

Exactly, I believe those figures are soaking up the original investment from Betfair so it'll take a good year or two to make profit.

As for LMAX as a trading platform, I still use them, still happy with them and really like the no bull simple mechanics of trading on their software. If they went under I'm not sure who would offer a similar sort of experience which is a shame.

Found this Broker today via Google. Has definately catched my interest, but not because of the spreads. In fact, i do not care much about the spread.

Whats' far more important and surprising to me is that they offer an API access; specifically for the Microsoft .NET Technology. I don't know any other broker who offers an API for CFD Trading.

Will absolutely give them a try.

EDIT: Just taken a look at their API documentation. It gets even better: Their API Documentation does not only cover one .NET language, but four .NET Development Languages: Visual Basic, C#, Visual C++ and JavaScript. How cool is that?

If you like tight spreads then LMAX is really doing well in that area.

EURUSD is constantly around 0.1-0.6 which is excellent, GBPUSD isn't far off that tight too.

I am not paid by anyone but LMAX is perfect. AMAZING SPREAD.

I sometimes enter with 0.1 pip spread. I don't care about commissions, because lower spread gives me a lower chance to get stopped out.

Because I would not want something like LMAX to go under, I really hope traders will open an account with them. Because of maintance hours, LMAX is PERFECT for scalping.

I use charting from several MT4 and place trades on LMAX.
I found a penny today. That's +100 pips for me.

Well, their opening procedure looks cumbersome, the money in-out looks cumbersome, their website looks sh*t, and last not least, their api spells s-l-o-w. I'm sure that it's ~1000 times slower than fix. Xml, json? C'mon.. you're amateurs. Otherwise things look good..

if they remove restrictions on certain countries, then i can try them out
i know MBT UK granted a similar request (removing some country restrictions), so i cant see why LMAX cant do the same.

If i hadn't a lot of things going over the oanda api, i would probably have moved over by now. Porting my stuff is a lot of work and i cba at the moment.

Fx spreads are still very good, index products have slightly worse spreads recently.

yes, that's the execution is very fast. I can't comment on slippage as LMAX is not my main account. But every time I trade I think wow!

Just thought I'd add my experience with them. having been with Alpari Micro, then Classic account, and getting fed up with bad fills all the time, I did a lot of research, to find a broker to suit my relatively small account size. I came across this thread, and signed up to LMAX about 3 months ago. I have been really impressed with them. The spreads are great during normal trading hours, and you get filled instantly- it takes some getting used too after the rubbish I had with bucketshops! Depositing money is easy by debit or credit card (no charges unlike Alpari) and instant too.

The only downside at the moment is the interface is not the most intuitive, and pretty basic- setting a stoploss and take profit could be easier, (I've spoken to them and they say they are taking on board feedback and will be making improvements), but I'd much rather put up with that and have a reliable broker that isn't trying to screw me over.

I just hope that they get enough business to keep trading and fine tune a few things, as I don't think there's been a massive take up so far.

There's also a bridge for MT4, and supposedly better scalping interface being developed by alphanovae.com

not true, this (useless) bridge doesn't integrate LMAX feed, but I heard they (LMAX) were going to provide MT4 platform soon.

But you will not have lmax data on MT4. You can connect to i.e. Oanda and execute trades on LMax. And its a third party product.

LMax would have to buy a MT4 license for proper integration, and i have not read anything about that. However, they said they will support Multicharts soon (which looks like a superior piece of software anyways).

Yes that's right, but for me (if the execution is as fast) then their mt4 bridge would be useful as I use mt4 with Alpari for charts at the moment and have a small window with the LMAX web platform open for execution.

Multicharts would suit me even better as I don't need to use EA's on mt4 and of late I've been using much simpler charts anyway, so to migrate away from mt4 would be easy. We don't need all those bells and whistles!

Metatrader4 "coming soon", so any third party bridge will be useless.
