Same reason discounters are so more intense about shoplifting than a place like Needless Markup. If you only make 0.10 on a $1.00 item, and one walks out the door, you have to sell ten to get back to even. The banks have been having stuff walk out the door for a decade, and TARP was just the stuff that wasn't just spoiled, it had the maggots crawling on it.

If you just take this week range you have a symmetrical triangle trading in the apex line right now at 1.444x.

Agreed, but as a simple minded trader.... a billion or so + in the form of a gift horse could have easily been traded successfully (especially with the fed QE knowledge) to "get healthy"....of course, I also believed the easiest way to correct the mortgage mess was to cut everyone's principle by 30% IMMEDIATLY...... foreclosures would have stayed low and the ecnomy would have felt as if a floor was underneath them. Consumers would not be so scared to spend, thus creating a lifting of the tide
