Quoting DarkstarDislikedPersonally I trade USD/JPY exclusively. I don't know (or care) if it's the best one, but it works real well for me. I have found that focusing my study on just one pair has given me a deeper understanding of how it moves. I'm probably missing out on some crazy volatility in NZD and AUD at the moment, but that's ok with me. I only need another 5000 pips off the USD/JPY and I'm a millionaire...Ignored

Quoting hugobossv8DislikedSMJjones,
I'm new to this still...I'm not sure I understand your trade. Do you wait for 15 minutes after news has come out before you enter any trades? For example, is this what happens:
8:30 EST: News comes out
8:45 EST: Market starts channeling
8:50 EST: Market breaks out of channel (enter buy or sell on breakout)
Or does the market start channeling right on the news announcement?
Looking at the chart you provided, at what time in the chart did the news come out? Was it 15 minutes before the channel that you outlined, or was it right at the channel that you outlined?
Also, what are the number of pips above and below the channel that you are placing your buy and sell entries? The chart is a little blurry...but it looks like roughly 5 pips above and below the channel, is this correct?
Thanks!Ignored

Quoting girdle66DislikedTypically I'll wait until about 5 minutes before a "red" news release and set a limit order about 5 pips below and 5 pips above the current price.Ignored
Quoting stockwetDislikedAn earlier poster talked about watching the pound after this coming FOMC announcement. I recently read the following article about the impact this meeting may have on the Cable and why it's being watched so closely. It's quite fascinating, if any of you are interested.

Quoting merlinDislikedLOL!!
red means "look out" not "get in"
traders DO make money trading breaking news, however. but its not a simple game, it takes dedication, study and experience, just like any other trading strategy. the plus to news trading is that profits are made (and lost) very quickly, no waiting around to see how a trade turns out. if you are good, you can be VERY profitable, i know personally a team of news traders that make millions.Ignored
