Hi
i am not using them anymore as the market volatility has changed a lot since 4 years ago and the 5figure decimal place was also introduced. They were only there to indicate oppertunities for counter trend trades.

what can we use in its place in todays market conditions ?

on the macd my fixed minimum and maximum are at default settings at 0.52 and 0.68.

of course this makes it difficult to draw the lines 0.0015, 0.0030 etc because they are too small to show up.

any alternative ?

do you have an updated version of this system for todays markets ?

iam also looking for a good reliable indicator that shows accurately way overbought / oversold levels on a 4 hour chart. does anyone know ?

thanks phil

Here is my trade. I'm still in it. It is a little slow developing but my tp is just below 1.44. The 1st chart is the daily. You can see the arrow showing the bullish candle inside the consolidation period. It closed right at the resistance level showing an increased chance of breaking out.
The second charts shows the TC indicated by the arrows. I did not enter there b/c it was right near the break out level. I went to the 1 hr to see what would happen (see the 1hr chart). Price broke out with a strong bullish candle showing higher prices to come. I entered there. Within that candle was a 5 min candle of 50+ pips...someone was buying big time. I was pretty sure price would contin up and it did.
Today's daily candle is still very bullish, so I'm going to hold on til 1.44 unless something signif changes.

Hi Moreland,

I was in that same trade yesterday. Entered 1.4385 and trail stopped with +107 pips. I am still looking for a long entry to get tp at 1.4570.

Currently I'm long in eurcad since yesterday(not liking it much).

Cheers.

No matter, with the momentum of the AUD these day, you are making much more pips than you know.

My trade last night.

Reason for short:

1. Congestion formed near MA 21(4H).
2. MACD (30, 78, 9) is in negative zone and lack of positive momentum.
3. Stochastic shows overbought and starts turning downward.
4. MACD(5,13,1) shows downward momentum.
5. ADX still in the sell zone.

Profit Taking: There are sell signal but not very strong, so I set the profit taking level (from H1 chart) at the closest support level.

Profit: 50 pips (70 USD$)

I can't save the levels in MACD custom indicator. The levels are not clear when I used them in the ECN account. I tried change them to 450, 300, 150 etc and working. But they will change back to 45, 30, 15 later. How can I save the change.

I believe you need to save the decimal custom indicator instead of the one you downloaded from Palmer's site

Hi.
I have started a new thread where I will be posting my 4Hour MACD trades as I trade them. I am enhancing my bussiness plan and are starting to trade the 4Hour MACD together with a 5min strategy in Forex.
The discussion around the journal must please be done here on this thread and not on the journal thread. I dont want to split this thread. You can allways refer to the post number in the journal thread here when you discuss a trade here that is in the journal
Thanks
Phillip

this back testing is misleading, there is a lot of losing trades that it doesn't include , for example there is a buy trade on 3/24/11 @16:00 on EURUSD (trend continuation) which failed

I'd send you a private message but appearently you have turned off that function. I can only imagine why. Phillip has started a trading journal and you are more than willing to keep track of his trades for the next year. Watch his trades and see if it meets your standards and then comment after a year. His post is approx 2 pages back and lists his thread which you can click on.
I simply don't understand why you keep popping back up. I can only assume you are an unsuccessful trader and need to take out your frustration on someone or something. My advise is to look at yourself and realize you are the one to blame. My guess is you just need to work a little harder.
