Eelfranz, what better to trade on the 4H chart or on D?

any of you tried to use those (or some) strategies in Range Bars charts? . . . I mean, M2 ofline charts?

Dear NeoRio and eelfranz,

I am totally confused with timings.I am a learner maybe that a reason for these problems.

Problem 1: If my broker has Market Watch time = 0700 Hrs right now and GMT time is 0500 Hrs. Now what changes i have to make in "Market Hour Bar" ? Right now NZopen is = 1, NZclose =7 ....so on .... so what i have to do? Make it NZ=23 and NZ= 4.... ?

Problem 2: In Craig Harris video (12-17-2009) : Tokyo Channel is b/w 23:00 - 07:00. its 8 Hrs whereas in M15 indicators swinger zip file , the market hour bar shows 6 hour span for Tokyo channel. Whats final ?

Problem 3: Likewise what are the settings for Vlines,ant-GUBreakout,Xi AsianSession ?

Problem 4: How IB, OB help us? When a bar gets IB, OB then ? what happens ? How these effect ?

Problem 5: Regarding consolidation: I am unclear that how to know that we will be getting consolidation as PDF "How to spot true reversal" states that "Look for consolidation at fib level". Which fib level ? From which highest to lowest we have to draw fibs ?

Big numbers and Fib sequence

I have read all but the last 80 posts. Nice discussion, folks.

Thought I would just add an interesting correlation that I noticed between the Fibonacci sequence and CH big and mid numbers. We know Fibonacci sequence and Fib ratios are found throughout nature, including man-made items. Maybe the following is already known, but I haven't come across it before.

CH: 00, 10, 20, 35, 50, 65, 80, 90, 00, 110, 120, 135, 150, 165, 180, 190
FIb:____1__2__3__5______8_________________13

CH: 150, 165, 180, 190, 200, 210, 220, 235, 250, 265, 280, 290
Fib: _____________________21

So we see here that the CH numbers appear to have a correlation to part of te Fib sequence. Did CH have Fib sequence in mind, or was it strictly examination of a LOT of charts whereby he arrived at his values?

Now let's extend this and see to where it goes. Lets take the Fib sequence and multiply by 10
10, 20, 30, 50, 80, 130, 210, 340, 550, 890, 1440, 2330, 3770, 6100, 9870, 15970, 25840

Now keep just the two rightmost digits
10, 20, 30, 50, 80, 30, 10, 40, 50, 90, 40, 30, 70, 10

So, with this small set from the Fib sequence, we never see CH's 35 or 65; we do see 30 and 40, which are close to 35, and 70, which is close to 65.

The following may not mean anything, especially with such a small data set.
Now show the frequency of occurance
00 x
10 xxx
20 x
30 xxx
40 xxx
50 xx
70 xxx
80 x
90 x
If there is any significance to this histogram (could be totally NO significance), then the more frequently occuring values should get our attention when trding.

Interestingly enough, we don't see 60; why not? Maybe continuing the Fib sequence will show it?

Perhaps someone would like to continue the sequence and extract the rightmost two digits and make a larger frequency histogram and then compare the frequency with what is seen on real charts.

I'd say no one can tell YOU which chart is better to trade. It all comes down to how comfortable that YOU feel about it. Dif'rent strokes for dif'rent folks, you know.

Oh my, it's so easy to get turned around with timings, isn't it? I've been turned, twisted and confused about times also many times! I don't have the time to answer your questions line-by-line, but let me suggest this:

Don't go by GMT. The reason I suggest not going by GMT is because 6 months out of the year GMT will be different than London and NY time. To avoid headaches and confusion you should either go by London time, or NY (ET) time. That way no matter what time of the year it is, whether it's DST or ST, 5pm NY time will always be 5pm NY. IMO the correct time to base the "beginning of the Forex day" on is 5pm ET. That is essentially when Pivot lines, Camarilla lines, ADRs, etc, etc should be basing their averages off of as that's when the new day officially begins.

Once you figure that out, everything else should fall in place. I'd suggest you use an MT4 broker that begins its new day (the 0:00 candle) at 5pm ET. That will clear a lot of the confusion for you. That is when the Tokyo Chanel begins. The TC ends at 12 midnight ET.

I have taken a break from this thread but spoke with Eric when it first started up. His system looked good and was working fine (even though I personally use another method). However over the past months it has mutated into something totally different and not necessarily better. Change, as exemplified by our President, is not always for the best. Now Big E's system is kinda like Abe Lincoln's original axe; 3 new heads and 2 new handles.

I have noticed over the years as one who trades for a living that when someone like Eelfranz comes up with a working system it often gets tainted. The primary reason for this is newbies who don't understand that no system is profitable 100% of the time and when they lose on a trade they immediately think that it is the system's fault and that it needs to be tweaked a bit because in a particular set of circumstances it did not work. Of course since no system is 100% these "improvements" need to be improved upon and the stupidity perpetuates itself to where the original system that worked 80% of the time has been updated to an unrecognizable thing that doesn't work at all. All indicators are lagging and the addition of more accomplishes nothing except to reinforce your preconceived notions of where the market should be heading. Currency trading, especially in these crazy times does not rely on history but the followers of this thread would do well to check out history and return to the original system Eric established and accept the losses that come with any system, study money management, and quit trying to reinvent the wheel. End of sermon.

Hi everybody i'm new on this forum and i've try to read the most possible thing in this really instructive thread but it's too bigger for read everything.

i've a question about the 5 Methode on 5 min chart:
(Posted P202 post 3018)

"1. 5 Method --- (Most simple strategy but works great)

Use Heiken Ashi candles
TDI Indicator set at default
Stochastics set to 8,3,3
5 ema, Shift set to 2 or 3, Typical

When PA crosses 5 ema and closes... that is the set up candle. The entry is on the 2nd candle if it's the same color. Works on all timeframes. I use 5 pip SL on the 5 minute chart. Works great short & long. Templates on pages 169, 170, 171."

Eelfranz said that he used a SL of 5pips, i find this amazing because it's so near from the entry point.
Does anyone had testing this method with this paramter ?
Another question : for entry point you wait only than the PA close above the MA, or than the body candle close totaly above the MA?

Thank you for the zip file of template and indicators. I have not yet been able to install them correctly into mt4 I guess since I only get the background color change of the template. I would read the M1 TF you mentioned in this post if I knew what and where it is. I did not find any instructions included in the zip file.
My search for the terms M1 TF did not yield any results. Thanks for any feedback you could give to point me in the right direction.

The tokyo channel start and end times was an interesting challenge for me also when I first watched Craig explain it live in a webinar with Dean Malone. After sharing all of the mental gymnastics I was going through regarding broker server times, etc. here is what Craig shared with me.

"Make it easy with out calculating all of the time zones that use Daylight Savings Time etc...

we calculate the Channel from the Wellington Open which is for the majority of the year at 2:00p.m. EST (N.Y.) and that is the start of the Tokyo Channel... the close is of course N.Y. Midnight EST. Wellington at certain times of the year play around with their start times... but it won't matter if it is an hour off as not much ever happens in the first couple of hours of the Wellington Session."

So, I got further confirmation from him and now using the MT4 platform through FXDD I loaded the template with the sessions 0.95 installed and right click on the sessions low line from the chart to open the properties window and then I change the Asian open hour to 21 and the close hour to 7. That is because I am CST which means according to CHs instructions to me my Tokyo channel start time is 1:00pm CST and ends at 11:00pm CST. It is ten hours in length.

As of this post CST is GMT -5 and FXDD server time shows they are 8 hours ahead of me that would make them GMT +3 so my Tokyo channel times are begin 2100 hrs and end 0700 hrs which is 10 hours.

Craig told me not to worry about the calculations beyond the times he gave me because of DST and Wellington makes changes from time to time and the markets don't move much during the first couple of hours in Wellington anyway. If I wanted to get more precise he said I would need to purchase his proprietary indicator since it makes all the calculations automatically. I am happy with what I have.

I know this thread has changed into the TMS system, but I was wondering if anyone is still trading this method in it's original form, as much as we can gather from Craig's webinars and if you are if you're having any success. Thanks.

FlySwatter, glad you figured the template out.

BigJim, I haven't followed the new thread, but I can tell you that the Craig Harris method is the best mechanical trading system I've come across. I will always look at the M15 from this perspective.
