Is there any way to keep the text above/below the lines. When I drag the new order script onto the chart the order level line goes through the text. It's especialy noticable if you increase the width of the lines as I do to facilitate moving them around, which then makes reading the text difficult.

Thanks

Steve

I seem to have some old orderrs that I closed in metatrader still appearing in the order window? how do I delete them please?

Hi Steve,

Many thanks for your kind words.

Please double check that you have the 'VO Monitor EA' running (on any chart, it doesn't matter which one). This EA reads the 'Trade' tab on MT4 terminal once every couple of seconds and passes the updated order info to VOConsole's Orders List. Hence the latter lags MT4's terminal by 2-3 seconds, but it should quickly catch up.

If you create new orders, do they appear in the VOConsole window?

If you're running Windows Vista (or possibly Win 7), and MT4 is installed somewhere under the Program Files folder, there may be problems as the EA attempts to write the data that gets picked up by VOConsole.

You could also try exiting and restarting MT4.

If the 'VO Monitor EA' is definitely running, and the problem continues to occur, please post again, and I'll attempt to investigate further. Let me know who your br0ker is, and I'll try on their MT4 platform. I've tested VO-Pro fairly thoroughly on 18 different br0ker MT4s (listed in post #1), and all of this seems to work fine.

You can adjust the text position relative to the line, as follows:

If you select any one of the lines, and drag the RIGHT handle upward/downward so that the line tilts, the text on ALL of the lines will move up/down. The more steeply you tilt the line, the faster the text moves. Then when you release the mouse button, the line snaps back to its original position (level with the LEFT handle) but the text remains at its new level. You can have the text display above or below the line, however you wish. If you experiment, you'll see what I mean.

The starting position of the text relative to the line depends on font size, monitor resolution, and how much vertical space is available to the main chart (this decreases the more chart sub-windows you have open, and the height of the MT4 terminal). VO-Pro does its best to adjust for all of these factors, but because it's too difficult to anticipate every possible scenario, I included the facility for adjusting the text manually.

I've noticed the "Trade Risk (pending order)" text have a slight flickering effect. Seems to be tied with some type of loop that the program is doing. I'm not sure how easy it will be to replicate/track down but I may be able to create a small video of it if needed.

Alex, you are correct, the "Trade Risk" area is part of a loop that polls continuously. I did experience the flickering problem that you noted a couple of weeks back, but not this one. It possibly has something to do with CPU speed, Windows version, what other jobs/background tasks you have running, etc. Anyway, I'll try reducing the code in this loop to the bare minimum, which will hopefully help.

@kosai, @everybody: A couple of other points.....

I also fixed another bug that I discovered myself, about an hour ago. If you create a market order with neither a SL nor a TP, then no lines appear (which is correct), but the RR text at the entry point wasn't appearing, creating the impression that the script is not running. This text will correctly appear in v2.16.

In v2.15 I changed all of the Preset dropdowns from Arial to Verdana font (sorry, I forgot to mention this in the release notes). Arial was experiencing some degradation (some of the characters weren't being displayed correctly), if you have your Windows font display option set to 'ClearType' instead of 'Standard'. [In Win XP, you change this by right-clicking on your desktop wallpaper, and then Properties -> Appearance (tab) -> Effects... (button) -> Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts (dropdown)]. When I changed from ClearType back to Standard, it fixed the degradation. However, Verdana seems to experience less degradation than Arial, even if ClearType is being used.

Yes, This flickering seems much more subtle than the the past version. I have noticed that it flickers quite a bit when playing a video or pausing a split second after typing characters. Therefore it would have more to do with some type of "refreshing" after some detectable change in the operating system. I'm using Windows 7 64-bit. I wouldn't be surprised if the app somehow is conflicting with the OS. Either way it's not as bad as the problem with the older version. Hopefully the adjustments made should resolve things with 2.16.

Wow!!!

This is a perfect combination of EA, scripts and external app. i really like the OSD (On-Screen Display) parts, showing the most current risk reward percentage every time i change sl/tp lines.

Keep up the great work, Sir!

Hey David,

I did do some testing on a Windows XP machine and didn't notice the flickering even once. It was definitely a problem with Windows 7, and may have to do with a processor issue as you stated before.

Hope that helps.

Austine,

For some reason your computer is apparently attempting to open ZIP files with Adobe Reader.

I think the simplest solution is this: please send me an e-mail (my address is in this post), and I will e-mail the VOsetup file to you in a different format.

David

@StanP:

Stan, I'm not sure if you're still following this thread. Anyway, just to advise that v2.15 has a "Prioritize CPU usage" option (see attached screenshot). You can toggle this option on/off, even after you've attached the 'VO Create New Order' script to a chart. While the option is checked ON, hopefully Windows Task Manager will show that your CPU usage is reduced significantly. The trade-off is that, while moving the lines around your chart, the RR text above the lines moves much less smoothly.

Can VO open more than one script on different charts at a time.

I sometimes get signals that coincide.

It's certainly starting to look a polished program.

Edit to add.

Okl just tried it on a trial account. You set up the scripts on the charts and then press the execute button for how many scripts you have.

Neil,

Thanks for taking the time to test VO-Pro.

You should execute a trade (by clicking the green tickmark button) on one chart before attaching the 'VO Create New Order' script to another chart. Otherwise you could get unpredictable results. Note that this is the same as placing a trade using MT4 - you must finish entering the parameters for the trade, and click OK to place it, before switching to a different chart.

Best wishes,
David

Thanks for the reply.

I thought it might. Only tried it briefly on a demo account, seemed to work ok. I will run on a live account, when i have multiple signals just use a preset saved SL which is always the same percentage anyway and then manually exit when it hits the TP. This will hopefully minimize conflict.

It's either that or run mt4 multiple times and VO pro as well, which will be confusing i think.

Edit to add.

I wouldn't have the time to open and set up a new script. So would have to decide which signal to take.

Freemenn,

Thanks for taking the time to test drive VO-Pro.

Perhaps you have also used Sangmane's order entry scripts, which leave the SL/TP lines on the chart? VO-Pro works differently: you drag VO Modify Orders script onto the chart if you want to change the levels. The main advantage of doing it this way is that you can modify multiple orders simultaneously.

If you want to modify only some of the orders, then click the brown arrow in VOConsole's window to bring up the Orders List window, and select the orders you want to modify from this window (see screenshot).

mtbf40,

Thanks for the kind words, and for trying out VO-Pro.

I can't seem to reproduce your problem - see screenshot. Works fine for me.

I'm running Win XP Home SP2 / Go Markets / MT4 build 402.

What Windows / br0ker / MT4 build are you running?

Also, what happens if you try to change the colors for the TP or SL - do they fail also, or is it just the entry color? What happens if you try to use colors other than Goldenrod for the entry?

You could try clicking the red X button to cancel the order, and then drag the VO Create New Order script on again, then try to change the color - does this fix the problem?

Must admit I'm clutching at straws, because it works flawlessly for me.
But I will continue to investigate different scenarios, to see if I can reproduce your problem, and report back here.

Neil, thanks for your reply. Please feel welcome to use VO-Pro however you wish, although I would advise against using it in ways that it was not intended (e.g. creating orders on multiple charts before executing them), and also against using it on a live account until you're thoroughly sure that it produces exactly the results you expect, under all possible conditions.

Especially as the software is still in beta, and I can not offer a 100% guarantee of correct results.

Hi David,

now it works - why also always - no idea

but now i can't change the colors for "modify Orders" and the width.
if I press the scrollwidget, nothing changes

other questions...

1. it's possible that the Panel always stay on top - as a option (off/on)? - it's make easier to handle the Orders
2. it's possible that you add three Buttons to execute the three scripts

... perhaps in the next version

regards mtbf40

EDIT:
my System:

Hi David,

I've seen this problem for a while but just lived with it. Not sure if I brought it up before but the line accuracy seems to have a problem after the order has been created. I know it will change the location of the line for a new trade if you have "adjust for spread" ticked, however it also changes this after the order has already been placed.

For example, lets say an order has been created with the entry @ 1.5050. When I go to modify the line it will move by a few pips (i.e. 1.5048), however the text title and order window shows the correct price (1.5050). I can produce a video of this problem if necessary but I think it should be simple enough to duplicate.

While I'm on this subject, I've also noticed if I draw a line on the chart and try to overlap your lines, as soon as I let go of the mouse, it "snaps" away from the level by a few pips/pipettes, almost like it's trying to avoid overlapping that line. Was this intentionally coded in? It makes it a bit difficult to set my entry at the exact levels that I would like.

Maybe both were fixed with the new release. I don't remember it occurring with the new version. Not sure if you've corrected the code.

Thanks.

Alex
