Very well could be. We know the body and mind have natural defense mechanisms built in. All this talk about "outside" factors that can improve trading or analyzation skills now has me thinking, what else can I do to help my thinking? LOL. I know it's been mentioned before, but I think it's worth mentioning again that it is important to sleep well. I also think eating and drinking healthy is important. It will help you think better, make more money and live longer to be able to spend that money! Now I only wonder if more bedroom action (if you know what I mean ) helps clear the mind also?! I will need to go over this with my girlfriend .

Speaking of MAJOR discoveries... you mentioned in an earlier post that at some point you had discovered why some trade setups worked while other similar setups failed.

I imagine if you could identify the difference between the 2, that would be a fairly powerful discovery.

care to drop a hint?

Try meditation.

The art is to get into a state of mind where both your sub-concious and concious minds communciate with each other. In normal state, your concious mind has no idea what is stored in your sub-concious mind. During meditation you may reach a point where your concious mind gets a glimps of certain things stored in you sub-concious mind in perfectly alingned manner. One has no control over what is presented to concious mind, but if you get even a flash of these aligned sub-concious things related to trading, you have hit the holi-grail. Sometimes, you just get an idea that requires further work.

It has to do with a thing I coined as "RTB Delta = Red Line Thrust Bar Delta". It is a series of correlations that has taken me years to perfect. I mastered different elements of it over the years, but I was never able to combine all the different components into one unified concept. For instance, for my first two years I focused on one particular timeframe. I did everything to make that timeframe work but I couldn't. My most significant correlation having to do with moving averages, I discovered in my first six months of trading, but it would be three years before I could fully exploit it. I knew it worked to perfection, but I couldn't explain when it didn't work. Once I discovered RTB Delta, everything made sense because I could see things in the correct context. It was proof that there are definite fractal relationships in the financial markets. And yes, I discovered RTB Delta a year ago after I suffered a sizeable loss....if I had put my head down and threw a major tandrum I would have never discovered it. Instead, with great effort I decided to go ahead and review/document what happened and in the process of meticulously reviewing a disasterous trade, I came up with RTB Delta.....I will never forget it. Lesson to the wise, keep grinding, and never give up.

Now, can I tell you specifically what I am talking about? HELL TO THE NO........lol......it is like giving away 25,000+ hours of research for free...if you are an experienced trader then you know the rules (I wouldn't expect you to share your real strategy either). However, I have shared extensively that trading successfully is all about coming up with the right correlations. Everything has to work in harmony with everything else.

LOL. If you even force your precious 25,000+ hours strategy down the throats of others they will still shit it out very next morning and will flush the toilet twice. Don't worry, no one wants to believe others until they come to the same conclusion after spending 25,000+ hours.

that's the most STUPID example of something i've heard of in awhile. what day of the week would you think nothing suspicious of some fruit loop giving away "free money". you wouldn't accept a free car from a stranger. you wouldn't accept a free rolex from a stranger. you wouldn't accept a brand new stereo system from a stranger. why is money any different? if something is suspicious then IT'S SUSPICIOUS, and gee wow so surprising that people would avoid it hey.

seriously, come on. stuff like this makes me so mad. let's just condense everything down to such a simplistic level that it can now prove a completely faulty and more complex premise, right?

One should be able to live their life as they choose. If you can't trade profitably being stoned/drunk/sober/breathing then you won't last. Simple.

If you get high and are able to have it work in your advantage, then why not. I've been working on this concept for years and can truely say it benefits me. First test is to beat the paranoia that Chicky's avatar is staring right at me haha

Separate everything you've been told from everything that you KNOW. This goes for trading as well in life. That being said, I don't drink alcohol unless a special occasion. It's legal but in my eyes, it shouldn't be. Put me down for $.02

I guess you can liken it to taking down a few wine coolers before the inlaws come in town to visit. It just relaxes you and puts you in a good mood. Do I do this all the time?......No.......but it is OK to do it every now and then in order to release any inhibitions. That's why Japanese businessmen are so adamant about mixing drinking with business......the best way to build comradeship (releasing inhibitions).

However, if you need a buzz to trade then I don't consider that a good thing. My position throughout this discussion was about the notion of how a person might study charts (not trade) differently while in an altered state of mind. Will the brain "allow" you to see things differently in an altered state?

One reason you don't want to spoon feed folks is because it will prevent them from coming up with even better trading strategies. Most people do not have the time to spend 25,000 hours on a trading strategy.......the other alternative is to pay for the information......but I cannot give up my precious cash on something that I cannot verify that will work once I pay for it.

If individual traders joined forces and shared their knowledge, the financial markets would cease to exist because there would be noone to take the bad side of a trade. It is an interesting dilemma.

I think this is a different concept.

When a TV/Broadcasting company gives away money or anything else, they do it for something in return. You see when they give away money at the price is right, who wants to be a millionaire, singing idol, sale of the century and all of those other game shows, they in return get billions in return.

Trust me, these guys aren't giving money away for nothing

That is business, give and take.

The principle applies here is the one that Nubcake pointed out. We are normally ready to accept a benefit provided we know there is nothing fishy about it. The trust in the source.

If someone offers a holigrail, how would we know 1) it exists, 2) this is the real one, and 3) that person is giving it away in good faith?

One small loss and here we throw that method out the window, like many post here about systems they purchased (I never have even read their advertisement).

Yes, I learn from friends here, anything that makes sense and has logic attracts my attention.

Many share their secret, many don't and some even misguide people. This is how it is. We all are different.

By the way, there is no secret just an illusion.

Imo, yes. I feel that a controled altered state of mind has an ability to disregard nonsense from books & forums, which in turn, gives precedence to original ideas that can run like a wildfire. EVERYONE is different though.
