Multi-Pair MACD

My multi-pair MACD does not work. It just show up at the bottom of the screen with nothing in it. The programmer said it might be my broker, which is Gain Capital. Does anybody have problems with them?

I've just downloaded Forex.com's MT4 (via the Gain Capital website) and discovered the same problem. Yet the indy (which i found from a prior post of yours) works fine on my br0ker's (GoMarkets) MT4.

I noticed that the demo account I opened with Forex.com had symbols like EURUSDFXF instead of EURUSD. Is that the same with you? Anyway, I've had a quick look at the indy's code and I'm pretty sure that's the cause of the problem. I'll try to fix it.

I don't have any demo accounts anymore so i haven't noticed the FXF letters. Thx for helping thou.

It's really weird. I loaded the indy into MetaEditor and recompiled it and it seemed to work, irrespective of whether I typed the symbol names in with or without the trailing FXF.

But when I loaded a JPY-based pair (EURJPY), it didn't display until I added the FXF suffix, but the chart then plotted the non-JPY plots as a straight yellow line (see screenshot). This bug also occurs on Go Markets. Probably a scaling problem, as the JPY pairs have 2 less decimal places.

The indy appears to be intermittently faulty, and I don't currently have the time to rewrite it. (The indy can be downloaded from this post, if anybody else wants to tackle it).

hey cap..... my experience is only with ibfx only so limited as to knowledge with gain or go markets platforms..... or as to their symbols used.....

judging from your picture, no value is being returned by the calculateMacd() function... notice the values -900000 above the 900000 on your multimacd graph, it should be the other way around...... odds are this is a symbol issue......

mladen likes to use code to detect and write symbol arrays, primarily directed for ibfx's mini account..... as do i....

to overcome that, the symbol arrays must be created differently..... or abandoned all together.....

secondly as to hanover mentioning the jpy pairs......

a slight edit to the calculateMacd() will overcome that......

as to the intermittently faulty he mentions, the only thing that comes to mind would be the need to occasionally resize the values..... extreme macd values of one pair can obscure normal macd values of another.....

as with many indicators, scripts and ea's, differing brokers and extreme values can cause unforeseen issues...... what works perfect for ibfx might not work at all for gain.....

as seen below, my edited version works correctly even with jpy pairs or extreme macd values......

you mentioned on the other thread if some other multimacd version exists...... have not seen one myself..... will give it some thought, time permiting.....h

This one should work correctly at any broker as long as user enters symbol names correctly (even though even that version works correctly, as havover has posted on his picture an example with "FXF" added to names)

You must enter "EURUSDFXF","GBPUSDFXF" and so on (it will not work on your broker if you enter it without suffixes which in your case is "FXF") You have to change the default pairs parameter from "EURUSD;GBPUSD;USDCAD" to "EURUSDFXF;GBPUSDFXF;USDCADFXF" (that is what I already explained in an answer to you)

Use equalize (set it to true - it is there as parameter in the version you are using too, no need for this one). MACD values for JPY crosses (and any "2" digit symbol) are usually much bigger than for EURUSD, GBPUSD and similar ones ("4" digit symbols in this case - macd is not a bounded indicator - it does not have a known upper or lower bound) It is not a bug, it is the nature of MACD

Mladen, thx but i tried the FXF added to the pair names and it still didn't work with your new indicator. Would anybody be willing to try Windows Remote Assistance?

Sorry but it still didn't work. Would it have to do with the time frame perhaps? I inputted 240 for time frame and nothing changed. I don't know, i give up. You guys can stop wasting your time on me.

i can say without a doubt it works on ibfx.... it will plot almost any indicator in a similar manner....

you must have the proper amount of history of course.......h

All i can see in the history center are price history records.
