So I think today I officially learned how to trade a range and / or a trend at the same time..

I don't know how to explain this but..

upon a recent discovery I see that whenever there is a trend there is also a range happening simultaneously..

and the best part of this is it makes buying and selling/buying the swing highs and swing lows in a trend really easy

Damn this is some mind bending shit I'm on.. I am unfortunately speaking a little quick for something I noticed today



and I know what I'm saying makes no sense maybe I will make a diagram at some point but its the weekend dude.. gotta get laid first

the ultimate discovery... if I had to say one for me so far.. then thats basically trading is simple and everything they told you from the beginning you just didn't have the discipline to handle it IMHO (and ability to decipher the BS from the nuggets)

yeah what I saw today was just something completely weird that caught my eye and only an assistance to fine tuning at the best

This right here is the whoa is me... you also go onto say about someone needs to paint a picture and then you later say you don't want it handed to you on a platter.

To set the record straight I'm not pissed at you.... maybe a little disappointed in your attitude but that's about it.

When I speak about Risk I am not referring to individual trades. Your risk is always what is in your trading account. Does it matter if you blow it slowly or all at once? Is the outcome somehow different?

You can compare this to a casino, but the casino risk is different... if they don't attract the customers they go under due to the light bill coming due at the end of the month... and you can bet your hiney it's a big one. (All those flashing lights cost money and lots of it.)

You can't cross the street without risk. You can't breathe without risk. Just because you take the risk for granted doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I think when you fully grasp what risk is you might be halfway there.

The only way you trade risk free (physically) is put money in your account, take out your original deposit after you win and then trade off the winnings. But for obvious reasons (mentally and psychologically) the risk never goes away. (no one wants to lose, even if it's not their money to begin with.)

Saying that trading off of winnings is risk-free trading is self-contradictory nonsense.

1) In order to have winnings in the first place you need to take risks.

2) If you do win, the winnings are not "winnings", they are your money now and part of your equity. Trading with that money involves taking risks.

Don't kid yourselves. Trading = risk-taking. Just learn how to deal with it.

i think i need to remember to make a note in my posts of when i have, and have not, had much sleep. it might make my posts more understandable.

re risk: it's possibly taking one thing and conflicting it with everything else... but it bothers me when i read about some people taking something like 30 or 50 losing trades in a row. fitting that possibility with some ideas makes them unworkable. maybe people that report these types of numbers are plonkers with no idea anyway and i've polluted my own head with the wrong things from the wrong people.

i like the trend. the trend is ace. i want the trend to be my friend. so far my invitations to have a beer together have been ignored. i have a new idea about the trend which sits hand in hand with looking at things more in a probabilities framework which is a little different to how i used to look at things. 30 or 50 losers trading with the trend should, in my mind, really not be possible... (lol, so it'll likely happen).

re painting a picture : see even that right there is me not being able to get the correct message from me to you. i've changed my own metaphors around. the message is unclear despite my efforts. nothing beats actually speaking with someone who can point out what is up and what is down.

I don't know what's up with you. Okay, let me rephrase my post so even people like you get what I mean. Yes, you always have a risk in individual trades, some will be losers some will be winners, but over the long haul, the next thousand trades you should come up net-positive. In that sense we are playing the large numbers, like a casino or an insurance company. We don't know the individual outcome of trades, but we should know the outcome of a couple of thousand trades.

Amazing that I need to clarify such a simple post.

just on a side note, and simply because i want a break from forex and feel like sharing... i'm currently reading some electronics lessons. i've mulled over it over the years and keep coming back. i could never get how capacitors work their magic and hopefully this read-through will click. that shit is black magic.

it's gnarly how some concepts seem familiar across different sciences. learning to be a programmer early in life has it's side-benefits apart from all of the hot babes that wait at your feet.

edit : oops. meant to add that i feel there is also a relationship between electronics concepts and trading. it's just a feeling. perhaps that's a dumb statement and really everything has a relationship to everything else, so a moot thought.

Has anyone ever considered how to develop an approach that can work simultaneously as the market goes up and down? keyword simultaneously.

Ive got some testings going on but just curious if to see if anyone else has thought or managed something similar.

No options, just spot fx, be it single or multi currency.

Any thoughts on this?

How is this different from not getting handed something on a platter?

How is this different from painting a picture? You want to be told what to do, but when you're told by me or others you claim it to be some old failed approach. ( That pesky little "R" word again.)
