Hello Dredd, and all.
Finally made it to the end of this thread. Promised myself I wouldn't post until I did.
First, thanks for starting this and I'm glad one of your other readers referred me here.
Second, if you still need help with your EA, I would be glad to help. I recently finished writing another EA based on a different thread at FF but the mechanized trading so far isn't anywhere near as profitable as the manual trading (of other people), so I'm still looking. Again, glad I found this and it would be great, and fun, to get out a working EA. I wrote the last one because, as you know, most of the best intraday trading is London to NY and I admire you staying up till 8 in the AM, (are you on the East Coast?) but I can't do that cause for me London is midnight, and I still have a stupid job I'd love to ditch. Yes, I'm going to look at the higher TFs too, but at least right now, I have to admit I'm probably a better coder than a trader. Who knows, thanks to you and the other experienced traders' posts, I might actually get there.
I really appreciate those last few docs you posted; REALLY great info there! One thing that I KNOW newbies don't get, is what experienced traders can't really teach, that is, all the experience and knowledge that their subconscious brain has collected and acts on every trading minute or decision. A newbie might read the rules, look at a chart and say, "there's a good trade" where a pro would say, "No", and might or might not be able to explain why not. That instinct based on years of good and bad decisions. At least now I know that I don't know that yet.
And last, if you ever get tired (again!) of newbies asking the same questions again and again without reading the whole thread (I did, with a job, took 3 or 4 days), you could do like another guy did by restricting all posting to people with at least 1 voucher, for a week or 2
, kind of like David Carradine ("grasshopper") in the old Kung Fu show that had to stand outside the Shaolin temple for a day in the rain to show his willingness to learn before he was allowed inside.
