I will try to explain my observations on my deep and long backtesting, and some ideas to control drawdown.
very high drawdown are very punctually.3-4 times in 2 years. Usually because sudden movements of the market 1000 2000 pips en 2 3 days. this are the dangeros days.
1. limit the number on orders. Its OK, but get out of the drawdown can take VERY long time. but drawdon will be keeped under control (mostly)
2. This is a tricky one. Insert oposite order after a sucession of one direction orders. Like today I have around 11 buy orders (1 per hour) on eurgbp. Maybe every 5 orders one oposite order can be introduced (with no take profit, just dependant of the growing sells in this case). Hard to figure out mentally the consecuences, and i need to see it on my mind. it Needs to be coded and tested.
3.Slowly, increase the time frame of the orders. First, in my case, 1 every hour, after 10, 1 every 2 hours after 10 1 every 3 hours...and so on. Again, come back from drawdown will take longer, but lesser than option 1.

i am a tired man now

keep going this, it is promising

we can defeat the criminals

I forgot to tell
I think my phosohy is different of what i already readed. In my case single trade profit is 2, and basket 1. I dont see any sense on increase the basket close profit. We want to close the drawdown asap. we win money with single trades. If we increase single trades profit, drawdowns will ocur more often, we dance over the blade more often. If we increase basket profit, gets harder to close the the drawdon.
this is only my point of view after analyze the backtestin results. single trade profit of 2 was the best results. But i didnt optimize it deeply. This could be improved probably.

regards from spain

I have had a play around with this as it looks promising.

I have takes gspe's version and modified to use RSI or ADX (also envelope is there but commented out for now) to determine if there is a trend or if ranging. If in a trend then use Caillou's version, if ranging then countertrend and use gspe's version.

I have added MaxTradesAllowed and also a margin check (taken from Rinse and Repeat), these stop any more trades being taken to protect account.

I may have made a mistake in the logic so if someone could have a look and make sure then we can run this and play with different filters to see what can be done.

Have a play and let me know your thoughts.

Hi, have other people discovered this ea stops trading at certain times. I have the times in the EA set to 24 hours and the rsi filter should allow trading but it doesn't seem to enter trades, I have no open trades at the moment.

any thoughts anyone?

tks
Peter

Cheers. I have added a link to this in post 1.

Give it a try guys. If magft's version proves more consistently profitable, I shall simply replace the post 1 version then latecomers can benefit from the best available.

Hi,

Countertrend version recovered DD: 27% yesterday, actually account 19,6% up, less than 2 days....

Maybe better to load this version only during quiet markets ........

Sometimes it doesnt close trades correctly either?

And i still dont know what 'ProfitTarget' is...the default being '1'

Is it 1pip, 10? 100?

or $1, $10, $100 etc?

doesnt it need to be mulitplied for 5 digit platform????????

Anyone?

I am not sure Caillou, I think we need volatility for recovery, have to trade during big sessions, today I made hours: 6 to 11 and 13 to 18, made 1261 $ profit 2.68 % DD; 0.1 lot target 5 $

Caillou, I was looking at this and think it's a really interesting idea. Basically price is going to pick a direction eventually, and this puts you in that direction (net).

It seems like a huge bar in either direction would make it hard, because the rules wouldn't allow you to open orders between that bar and your original price.

Maybe putting pending orders on each pip away from the center line would work just as well but give you consistent entries no matter how price moves. Just an idea, what do you think?

[b]Also for anyone interested,...

with oanda subaccounts you could have long in one account and short in another. but how could we close when the combined profit exceeds target. is it manual process ?

Hi,

I found there is a rule in this EA.

If the Lot is 0.01 pt is 1

So why not set them with following code:

SingleTradeProfitTarget = Lot*100;
ProfitTarget = Lot*100;

With the Lot and pt linked together I can add MM for it.

here is Caillou with MM, 0.1 Lot for 10000 USD

Thanks to magft!

EA now has lower DD
