I actually use fib pivots to help from entering to soon. If the candle closes by the pivot I wait for the pull back then enter. Not often does it happen but it helps. I use higher time frames to get the overall direction of trend if traded in right direction you are guaranteed at least 20 pips.
Got it. Thanks for the clarification. The reason I was so interested is that I have a VERY similar strategy but more applied to the UK open rather than the US open.

Yes I use it for both London and us open and average around 800 pips a month give or take.

I have been using it for over a year very successfuly. I am for at least 50% a month. I only place on position at a time. Depending on the noise I adjust my lot size accordingly.

When I first started trading it my way I took 5k to little over 25k in 4 months.

Hi boophaty. Just wondering any chance you could post a chart with the fibs and 60 sma on it to show a sample entry? Whenever you get a chance no rush.

Yes here is today's US open If the the total length of the box is around 50 pips or so not a good trade.. you want the box size under 50 pips to catch a good trade.. I use fibs starting with the daily chart 4h chart 1h chart then jump back down to 15m.. see in the pic how we have the fib line 23.6 is close to the price chances are it's going to retract around that area. I hope this helps you out.

Are you plotting 7.00am - 9.00 am US time so 14.00 to 1600 GMT? I am in Ireland so just trying to get a handle?

Think i need to go and study fibs not too good on that part of technical analysis. But thanks very much for the help much appreciated

no I plot 6-8... I think that would be 13-15 gmt. not sure though. For fibs just take the highest high to the lowest low.. They may have a fib indicator that will do that for you, but not sure as i do mine manually...

Breffniman could you post a pic of your chart with the box on it and I'll take a look at it to see if you have it in the right spot?

Here is the 1h chart see how price is below the 60sma.. price is down trending.. it would not be good to take a buy trade on today's US open.. even though price was above on the 15m.. you are merely seeing the pullback.. that is why I didn't trade today.. Hope that helps.

As you can see i was plotting 7 - 9 or 1400 to 1600 GMT. I then set an order at 5 below the sell and 5 above the buy. I am changing and tweaking and thats why i would like to understand your methods. I have a fib overlay just gotta figure it out:-) I also have the 60 SMA which shows a downward trend.

Ok try to plot 6-8.. I would honestly wait for the close of the candle above or below the box just so that you can avoid whipsaw... that was one of the problems everyone was having in the original system.. Are you using the breakout box indicator? let me see if I can find what thread # that was on and post it here..

I use both, but until you get the sysyem down it will be safer to use the 15m.. I have a signal to buy on gbp/usd check out the doji on 1h... and close to support but anyway... we'll work on this for you.
