Guys, if I hear Alpari, I see a virtual dealer in front of me. The virtual dealer does some dirty jobs. Not sure if I can trust them again. But I'm open to forget if they changed their strategy

You rang them 6 times in 7 minutes? Maybe less because you managed to post on here complaining about it at 9.07am.

Not trying to defend them but perhaps you should try waiting a little longer between calls.

I was just watching AUD/NZD since I have an open position there. The spread during the day was very low 2-3 pips if I remember well then suddenly it started rising to 11... 14 and peaked at 54.8. This happened about 5 minutes a go. I am attaching a screenshot here.

My question is, is this normal broker behavior or the spread is way to high. I am using their demo for learning purposes and I plan to open an account there later this year. Now with what I saw in the spread I am not so sure. Is this normal behavior for a market maker o should I shop around for a better broker?

EDIT: I just noticed in FF calendar that there was an important release about NZD and I noticed that all NZD pairs have gone crazy. So this is a news driven increase in spreads but still is this normal?

Funny you should mention that. I was short AUD/NZD with TP at 1.2939. Looking at the chart it hit that price and shot straight back up but the order was still open. I closed it manually anyway for 40 pips profit.

I can only assume the news at this time of the day meant bigger spreads because of a lack of liquidity.

I recently encountered some severe problems with Alpari UK, I so decided to open an new thread here on FF, please refer to : http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=299780 for all the details.

They basically Blocked my funds as they are investiganting on my trading activity (maybe because I made too much profits according to them?? )

Any help or advice is very much appreciated.

I am having problem with withdrawing fund from Alpari as well. Here is my case details.
When Alpari uk introduced funding option by credit card (cc), I have phoned in and asked for details. I was told that after cc funding, I need to make some trades. So that's what I did. So on 9 June, I deposited fund by cc (>USD64K). I made some trades (>80 returned trades to be exact). Then on 27 June, After receiving my withdraw request (USD50K), I have this email from Alpari

We have received your withdrawal request. However since your last deposit there has been minimal trading on your account.

Can you please advise why this is the case?

Where an account has been funded and we subsequently receive a withdrawal/transfer request following minimal trading activity, the rationale for the request is sought. In this case your account has been fairly inactive and has lead to these questions being asked.
This procedure is performed to ensure that our clients are using the services of Alpari (UK) for trading purposes and not as a “banking” facility.

We value our clients highly and apologies for any inconvenience caused. However, should you require further clarification please do not hesitate to contact me or another member of the Back Office Department.

I then received a call from Alpari seeking for my clarification (at that time I didn't read the above email yet). I told her that I saw other oppotunity and needed to invest elsewhere for a while.

Later on, I come home and read the above email. I called them to make sure that there is no problem with the fund withdraw. A guy answered the phone this time. After couple of minutes, explaining my case, he said you have made some trades, I see no reason of blocking the withdraw. I will ask my staff to process it at the end of the day.

Then I received another email at 5:58 pm london time (I think they are really bad on the timing, we all know that their back office only open from 9-6, so it seems they want to make sure that I will not have time to call them on the same day)
here is its content

Further to the telephone conversation you had with my colleague XXXX earlier today- we will require an explanation as to why there has been minimal trading on your account since your last deposit, before we can process your withdrawal request.

Additionally, we are currently undertaking additional security checks on credit/debit card payments to ensure that we maintain the highest possible standards at Alpari in protecting your card payments. As such, please could you provide us with a statement issued within the last 3 months for the card you have used for your recent transactions with us (card number ending 8888.)

Upon receipt of this information we shall update our records.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused, but believe that this will assist with the continued security of your card payments to Alpari.

So they are surely didn't ask for much, an explaination and three statements. Plus their reason is so weak. I have been using that cc for the last 2 years with them.

Of course, this is very frustrated to me. I want to share/alert you about (what I considered) their bad practice.

I was happy trading with them before. I have been with them since 2007. With this incident happened for the second time and with the level of control they excersise over client fund. I think Alpari uk no longer needs to retain existing clients and/or acquiring new clients.

I ofcourse will close the account in due course. but for now, what should I do.

Hmmm....that is a very disturbing fact. But I do not think that Alpari did it intentionally, may be a bug in their customer support system?

Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure ... the bug is called "Why cant we get some of that money?"

Their only intention is to make you trade so you can lose some money and they make profits, that's all about it. Believe it or not, it's just a matter of time.

Something has changed in their policy, or so I'm told. They now need a cc statement for withdrawls as well as deposits. I made a small deposit and after I emailed them the statement it appeared in my account. They also told me it was a one off thing (I asume per cc).

If you think of them being evil then I can see why deposits are easier then withdrawl. For now I buy into their new policy story and give them the benefit of the doubt.

As a FSA regulated firm in the UK, Alpari (UK) Limited has an obligation to adhere to UK Anti-Money Laundering Regulations.
Where trading activity is deemed minimal, we are required by these regulations to establish that there is a genuine reason for withdrawal and that Alpari is not being used as part of the process by which money can be laundered.
Whilst we appreciate that this may be regarded as an inconvenience, please understand that our obligations in this regard are taken very seriously indeed, and are driven by Global agreements and protocols in the fight against crime.

With card payments, we have also recently introduced extra security measures.
For all card transactions, we now require sight of a statement and verification of the last 4 digits of the card.
Again, whilst we appreciate that this may be inconvenient, legitimate payments will suffer minimal disruption, and cardholders will receive the added protection that these measures bring.

Another bad experience with Alpari uk.
Timeline is below
I deposited on 1 July
Backoffice requested for statement on 1 July even though I have been using that card with them for the last two years
I complied and Sent statement on 3 July
4 July no reply
5 July sent email requesting status of funding and sent an email to [email protected] asking them to look into it as well but up to now, still no reply from Backoffice and Support
Imagine if I need the fund urgently as account facing margin call or see a trading opportunity passing away
Can you help please
