I'm sorry to hear about Tim - he has helped many people. I was a member of his site for a while and found he was a good teacher but "burbled on" a bit too much for my liking...That's just my opinion and I'm sure many will disagree....

I find Paul far more incisive - I guess it just suits what I am looking for/trying to do.

I put the link up in reply to AlexC's suggestion about finding out about pitchforks as it's an up to date intro that looks at some current charts....

I think the balance is slightly more in favour of Art...

I was with Tim for 1 month at the premium sessions and read everything he wrote on Money Show and Median Line and I was with Paul for
4 months.

I think the balance of science and art runs on two levels.

Like some complex musical instrument. There is much science underlying it. If there wasn't pitchforks just would not work even in the medium term. Fibonacci's are used by nearly every trader and this is why they work. Pitchforks are the reserve of a select few but they still work. So traders aren't respecting their lines because they just don't realise they are there.

The art comes in with the practitioner. There is an art in placing the A,B,C.

Both art and science rely on each other for the best results.

Some people don't like to give credit where credit is due. Shame. Whatever Paul learned he learned from Tim. I'm sure Paul would give credit where it's due. Tim is a great teacher and easily understood. If he can teach 5th graders to be profitable with crayons he's easily comprehensible to adults.

Please read what I said - I did not denigrate Tim or his ability. I certainly did not "not give credit". I am sure if you asked Paul he would be most gracious about Tim.....

All I said was that it didn't suit what I was looking for and that I found Paul more "incisive"....

Thank you for posting the video - I hope you will also enjoy and learn from the one I posted....

Thanks. I have the major downtrend from June but this is a recent formation inside the downtrend. Media is all negative about the $ with US government shutdowns to happen again so if it pans out, it pans out.

Median lines, as any other good tool for framing and trading the (any) market are not dependent on time frame nor trading vehicle. Time frames have varied from yearly, monthly, daily, every "time frame, and none time based charts, ie: range, tick, volume bars. The tools of median lines work on each and every one.

I do have preferences for a few of them. But this is just my opinion.

Mahdiquant, in your particular post, the snapshot you posted, indeed, would seem to not hold to the structural principles of median line tools. My guess is, you have only recently come into contact with "da forks" and do not have some of the tools within your sphere of knowledge at this time. You would do well to exam the tool more in depth, come to the chart with a working knowledge of parallels, schiff, modified schiff, and context of the market.

As for your original chart...attached is one I marked up with a few ideas, ie sliding parallels and a schiff fork with parallels.

Wow! You are correct Xt. It is clear that some basic understanding is missing here. So many times traders interested in the fork think it is just as easy as 1-2-3- pivots, and presto the magic fork appears! If the trader doesn't understand underlying concepts (market structure etc. which they need to understand to trade anyway) it will appear that the fork is a hoax. And believe me, I have heard people who have traded profitably using MAs and other methods say it doesn't work because they never took the time to learn the related principles and concepts. Then, when they see that it does work, they don't want to put in the time to learn...and it doesn't take that long . IMHO, it's the best tool out there, period! Second might be Fibs.

That is a very good point. Because no tool can make the trader "be better", but it can provide "better" information for them to make a decision in harmony with the market. IMHO, the Pitchfork gives the most and best information, but, in the final analysis, it has to gel with the trader. May not be the best for everyone, but, IMHO (and it could be biased ), it is the best all round tool out there.

Another point is that if someone is using a trading platform for mobile devices, many times they do not include MAs etc. All you might get is a trendline. You can draw a fork with that and do some major damage. Just too handy to pass up to me.

But, to each his/her own...

This is terrible. I hope he will stay with us for a long time to come... I learned everything I know about reading the trend, market structure and median lines from him

As for his teaching, I think he does a good job, tho it feels like he always talks about the simple stuff. But don't forget that he kinda has a responsibility, so when new people sign up with his premium service, he has to talk about MM again and again, because they will trade every single bounce of any ML and go all in on their first trade.
Whenever he talks about more advanced stuff it is highly interesting and also clear that he is a true master of his field.

I am completely new to Forks after I discovered this Thread last week and have been reading and trying to digest a lot of material on the web about it. (Tim's site, FX4Newbies site, etc..) I think this is amazing !

I have here a fork on the EURJPY that I think really fits the market structure on the daily...

Please have a look and let me know any comments that you might have. I am trying to learn and will try to post my ideas here if you don't mind..

Also... I would really appreciate if some of you could suggest me some sites or resources where I could read more about Forks.
