That's one thing that drives me nuts about larger timeframes ( I come from trading 5m and 30m) the setups are few and far between so when one is missed, like this usdcad which I had on my watchlist, the time:opportunity ratio gets really skewed.

Interesting you mention this as these lines do not match with my chart.

I have 365 and 150 ema on close.

I am pretty sure James uses this so I am confused as to why my lines are quite different.

my moving averages are different as well.-i have the same settings as you, 6gun

It might be that James feed has sunday bars, which may change the emas look slightly.

You can see the small Sunday Bars on James's chart, they are skewing the calculations of the ema's.

The MAs line up as Jim's on my FXCM feed but are quite a bit out on my FxPro, dont know if that explains it a bit.

It has to do with the broker's Closing time. Difference closing times meaning different PA formations at the Close of each day. FXPro closes its day at 5:00 PM EST other broker's may close its day at 6:00PM or 7:00PM.

Jim is using IBFX who's closing time may differ with your broker. So when we have an EMA at the Close its going to differ with each broker's different Closing time.
Indicators show the past. Price Action "Indicates" the future.

Hi Jarroo, for this reason I cannot understand the edge behind MA's. For example on FxPro this trade would be trading right into the 365ema resistance, which is not a very good thing to do. For this partical trade maybe 365 was not of superior importance, but many times we see trades from 150/365 aligned confluence trades, which in fact are not in there on another broker.

Thinking about this for year, still can't get it ... so for now I have no Ma's on my charts...

Jarroo mate. Here is my chart.
They are defo 365 and 150 ema on close.
This would make the ema's unusable if they were so different.
I seriously can't understand this. A slight difference but not this much

I believe you right .. . for the practical structure of this trade that Jim took, the 365 ema was not the overriding importance that made this trade workout so well. But Jim (and myself) like to see additional confluence when a setup is presented . .long term emas is one of them.

This is a deja vu, all over again from a very similar trade that Jim took last fall . . .let me find it. . .

Thanks for reply Jarroo, is just in my thinking it is always was like this: If something can be used for confluence the same thing must be watched to not fade against. Like PPZ, BRN - good example, we use them for confluence and we don't trade right against them.

With MA's is very different somehow
