Hi,

I am just starting to use ICHIMOKU to trade on the daily charts in USDBRL. Does Anyone here already tried to trade it? I would like to know what do you guys think of using a 5min chart. Usually i look a 5min chart and Í'm feeling comfortable with it, but i want to know about yours experience.

Should have got in much earlier at the kumo break but last week it was actually looking bearish with risk off.

Hi I am new to Forex Factory, picked it up on twitter.

Been trading the Cloud for awhile. was lucky enough to get into Audusd at 0.99512 (18 mar), H1, and it took our my stop at 1.02424, for 290 pips.
I use a modified time frame for H1 charts, and have recentlystarted experimenting with 5 mn charts also using modified time frames.

I noticed that someone posted in one of the earliest posts on this forum, using 1 min charts, and was wondering if they had used the normal 9,26,52 settings, or changed these.

thats interesting,what modofications you did in 1H and what in 5M?its simply logical that when ichi was build these numbers where choosed for daily charts if i am not wrong.

I have been learning about Ichimoku for some time now and will be glad to join this thread to share my knowledge & experience, while learning from others too. I enter my trades using the range bar chart (equivalent of a 5 minute chart) and generally use the longer time frames (H1, H4 & D1) on the regular chart to identify the current trend, and then enter trades using the range bar. I am not married to any particular currency as I use the currency strength meter, as you folks do here, to identify weak & strong currencies and this is what determines my daily trades. I have been experimenting with these for some time now and will be going live from Monday.

Will be interesting to know the variation Rhino101 uses.

Hi all, thanks for the interest...

The power behind Ichumoku, are the numbers 26/52. These numbers give the awesome Support & Resistance points. The other lines Tenken-sen & Kijun-sen, are merely moving averages.

One needs to remember that Ichimoku, was built as a Stock Market indicator. In China, they traded 6 days a week and the standard indicator - 26 represents 1 month - 52 - 2 months. So technically, we are trading incorrectly, as we trade Forex 24 hrs a day "Sunday 10pm GMT to Friday 10pm GMT". However, because everyone trades them, they become the norm.

Ichimoku is based on DAY DATA, so if you adopt the same factors on an hour chart, you are actually only using the past 26 hours/52 hours data! and if you zoom into smaller timeframe, lets say 1 minute, you would be dangerously using 26 minuts/52 minutes. That is why the kumo usually works well with weekly/daily/4 hourly charts because that is where the data comes from.

So in theory, when one starts to trade in smaller time frames, one would need to adjust the parameters (Well my theory anyway!) I did some calculations and came up with :

H1 6-12-24
M5 72 - 144 - 288, or 12 - 24 - 48

as I said, I am still testing, but the H1 chart has proved very accurate so far.

I run the 3 charts on my system, so I can look at Weekly/Daily/H4 & H1 & M5 (at the moment I an using M5 for smaller entry points, to try and scrape a few extra pips out of the system.

Thanks for the information, and will await your test result(s).

I can actually trade without any indicator(s) as I just use the zigzag on the range bar, to confirm the trend already identified on the higher TFs, and enter on a pullback if the previous swing is not taken out and the currency strength meter/heat map gives good confirmation. Kiwi/Yen were the best pair I saw today, followed by the Aussie/Yen, and I use the Ichi cross for entry since the meter shows momentum.

I am experimenting with 6-12-24

in 5m charts...

so thiw is 30 minutes,60 minutew and 2 hours...its very fast

Guys,

I am trying to trade with ichimoku and it seems I am always late on entry. I have this rule that my entry signal should not be beyond 200 pips from Tenkan Sen.

When ever there is a trade possible it seems to be beyond the 200 pips range. In short, I always not be able to time my entry.

Anyway guide on timing an entry using ichimoku?

Any help and guidance is much appreciated.

Try putting up a chart with an example otherwise no one is going to know what you are talking about.
