It does not appear that you know anything about trading. I waited to take my profits, you and I dont move the price. I did not state I lost 5 pips b/t the afternoon and when I called in. As I stated I lost 5 pips, WHILE WAITING FOR YOUR GRUMPY TRADE DESK CLERK TO PICK UP THE PHONE. It seems to me that you and the trade desk have attitude problems, when it should be the other way around due to your firms inadequacies. I AM NOT ASKING FOR FAVORS, I WOULD MUCH RATHER CLOSE THE FREAKING TRADE THRU THE SOFTWARE, BUT THAT WAS IMPOSSIBLE, EVEN IF I HAD WAITED 30 DAYS TO CLOSE IT.

I tried to close a trade yesterday that failed. so called the trading desk and asked them to close the trade for me. when things came back online the trade was not only still active but i had another trade added to my account going in the other direction. ie one buy and one sell same currency? I don't understand why the desk just didn't close my order as requested?

you mean to tell me they put you in a hedge trade? how can that be, i don't think there back office computers would allow this.

Anyone tried trading with tradeinterceptor platform on MBT? MBT is listed as one of it's supporting forex broker.

yep I had a hedge trade running on my live account had to phone up the desk and get them to close it again!!

so my live account shows trades I not only didn't take but hedging.

I first noticed a problem with the trade when i tried to close part of my order which failed. I then tried to close all of my order.

what i think may have happened that my attempt to close the trade hedged my trade when the account became live again. I had three trade running two sell and one buy on the same currency. this show on my account history.

hahaha,its getting really weird with MBT.1st we have connection problem,Now we have 'hedging' position that is DISALLOW on MBT'S platform and yet it happens!? Justin,whats going on with MBT lately? Can u also explain why when i practically eye-ball the bidding/asking prices ALL the time on Both LIVE Desktop Pro and MT4,fr time to time i still see the quotes differences? Are they more things that i am missing out? Mine are LIVE accts.

No never try, but give a look at http://www.multicharts.com/ it's powerful and free for non automated trading!

Just for the record, my account with Desktop Pro works like a charm these days, no problem at all!

Imho mt4 is a software that was develop with market maker broker in mind and so is not well suitable for ECN broker, that have to do a lot of customization to the software architecture.

Try to use more professional software, like multicharts or similar!

It appears that you are the one that doesn't know anything about trading. It is you who manages your risk, not your broker. I've never had an MB trade desk person be nasty and agitated(tired, yes, but always thorough and make sure they have it right), however that is your tone currently, so I can see how they might be nasty and agitated if you come at them with the same.

I had an issue this morning and had to call the desk. I couldn't close a position, because a partial fill had left me with 500 units. I couldn't close the order at market, because the system cannot execute less than 1K per trade. So I called the trade desk. In the time that passed, the pegged order that I had on, was filled and it was able to close the last 500, because it was not a new order, but a partial fill of the other order. My trade was negative before it was resollved. I was not agitated, because this is what can happen and it is my responsibility to handle it. Can't stand to lose 5 pips? Don't open a trade without an attached stop loss?

And really this was not an MB issue at all. I had a position on that was not in even 1k lot size increments. I had used the pegged order, which didn't guarantee a full fill and I got most of the position closed except for 500 units(that ended up filling a few seconds later, but not before I was on the phone with the trade desk).

My error, not MBT. I have to accept if I do something that is not "in the rules" and learn from it. Or not and pay, either way. A couple pips here or there doesn't break the bank...

If the market hadn't come back my way and filled my order before I spoke to them, I would have had the trade desk close the trade at market, for the loss(or profit, whatever). Then I would have started looking for the next trade.

Remember, this computer thingy is really just a proxy for calling the broker and putting an order in. It is convenient so you don't have to either do that or pay for a spot on the floor and trade there. When something goes wrong with that interface, I'm on the phone straight to the source to fix the problem.

You did not lose 5 pips because of the grumpy man, it is because you did not manage your risk. The trade desk operators are not scalpers working to get you the best price. They are not required to execute with any particular speed(accuracy is the utmost). They ask you what you want to do and then accomplish it in a procedure that attempts to eliminate errors(as far as I can tell). There are lots of variables. They aren't required to care what your position is or how much you are in loss or profit. They just execute your order, *after* you call them.

If you had placed a limit order "at your price" it would have gotten out "when it was convenient for you" When you use market orders, you take what you get.

MultiCharts 7 may be pro software, but MultiCharts DT(the free one) is definitely not ready for primetime (at least for active pro traders)

Seconded that Desktop Pro is solid and getting better all the time.

Well, computers can do all sorts of strange things and then the humans have to find out about them and correct them. Sometimes shit just happens, then you fix it.

Have you spoken to the trade desk or MB Support about this?

Regarding the differences. There are lots of things at play here, multiple differing technologies you are talking about. One of them is the way that desktop pro renders candle opens & closes. It is inaccurate. MT4 seems to be better at this. so there is one reason for price to "look" different.

The other, it has been suggested that the data feed that desktop uses is different than the actual tick data and so Desktop isn't drawing the entire true range of the cande, this is supposedly why you can get a fill that is outside of the current candle.

Early in my trading career, I obsessed about such things, now I just step around and get busy trading. Once you accept that shit like this is the way it goes you can move on and adapt. Also, using a solid platform like Desktop Pro helps a bunch(was not as easy before Desktop "matured").

There is nothing wrong with the fact that Desktop and MT4 are showing different prices(similar, but around the market). They should, they are separate systems. Justin, correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the Desktop and MT4 systems are like 2 different brokers that are allowed to trade with themselves or the liquidity providers. If this is the case, the prices MUST be different. Do you really understand how the market works fxking?

If you are trying to be successful in forex, these things are minor. There are much bigger fish to fry than worrying if one feed is 2 pips different from another.

As I said, I had to wait for the profit to be where I wanted and then call them to close the trade...while waiting for 10 minutes for them to pick up, it moved against me and lost some of the profits, and the trade desk clerk there was agitated and grumpy. Initially they did not even want to look at the account, they said the trade probably was already closed while it was showing open in my end. You can sugar coat it however you want to, but they suck big time everytime this same things happens.

As far as you stating this was not their issue at all, you have no idea what you talking about. The rep on this thread has even stated that they do not even know what the problem was. "... You are just silly a cheerleader taking this pushed server update crap at face value. MetaQuotes pushes server updates on every broker and this does not happen to others. There is something wrong with MBTrading MT4 connecting to MetaQuotes and the problem most likely is on the broker side. They don't even know the root of the problem, and it will happen again until they get competent people to run the show.

Bingo. MT4 is the weakest link. I've said it before and will say it again: STOP USING THIS CRAP. It's great for making your charts look "pretty" but absolutely horrible for trading. Why do people insist on using it is beyond me.
If you absolutely hate MBT's Desktop offering, then there are many other packages that will do the job just fine and closely integrate with MBT API.

Yes I've had an issue like everyone else couple of days ago after the daily roll. But these issues are very rare (with their native Desktop platform!) and very manageable. In the grand schema of things, you must realize that banks FAR larger than MBT (those very same banks that provide liquidity for MBT) have problems with their servers too. Because I work in the industry I see these sort of issues with large institutions just as often. I will not mention their names, but after financial meltdown their names are mentioned very often in media. But I can tell you one thing REAL traders don't do: bitch and moan about good/bad our executing/clearing partners are. Instead we have contingency plans in place.

I'm not defending MBT here, but simply stating the obvious for those who are still clinging to this crapware MT4.

Here's what I can't figure out. Why are you here? Why don't you just close your account and leave? I've never met a more unhappy person that stayed around looking to be miserable. Most of us just don't have the complaints about MBT that you are trying to stir up, but I can assure you of one thing. If I had the feelings about a broker that match your tone, I would just stop using them, which would be great for myself because I'd be happier for my broker and even better for the rest of us on the thread.

Well said. It's not that hard to take responsibility for your trading. Start with: Don't use MT4. Then go to: If you have to use MT4, also have a Desktop Pro account, which is going to be more stable and better anyway. And then add: Put some additional funds at a different broker, just in case.

How hard is this? I wouldn't run my computers with just one ISP if I was doing mission-critical things with them, so why would I run my trading with just one account? Foolishness. You can prevent yourself from EVER HAVING A NET PROBLEM if you just follow these steps, so let's say your brokers have 98% uptime. Don't you think you resolve the other 2% this way? If your goal is 100% uptime, knowing that the world isn't perfect, isn't that how you should handle it?

It smells strange to me that someone on here bitches and bitches and bitches about how they don't believe MB is what they say they are even when the platform is working fine, then bitches and bitches and bitches when a rare glitch occurs, then still says they want to trade with them. Either get some balance or go away.

Expecting zero problems with technology and our current internet infrastructure is ludicrous. You want to trade with no problems, try Forex Tester Pro. Perfect executions every time and never a connection problem. It does still crash though, so you get that part of the experience too.

Also, Wwwin if you want to try and guarantee an out before the market turns against you (not your broker), use limits or trailing stops... The trade desk is capable of executing any of MB's order types to manage your risk.

I don't give a shit about the way you trade and you should not get involved about the way I trade. I like to move stops and limits as the trade progresses and the software would not allow me to do it and that presented a problem. I did not feel like waiting 30 min for the trade desk to pick up just to move SL and TP. When the trade reached a point where I wanted to close it, I had to call and wait 10 min for them to close it. Everyone trades a different way and your way is not the only way, but you are too dense to see that other people don't trade the way you do.
