I have two orders open

I could not log in. Already trying for more than half an hour. My EU short is already turned into a loser...

They really need a web platform for just in case, fuck the crappy fxtrade.
I found a penny today. That's +100 pips for me.

Look at it, I logged in:

My TP (partial close) has never been hit, even though it the price went 5 pips beyond the TP.


And why having modified that order (see I have new rectangles there, my old order is still shown as an open order with the same ticket number?) I have instead two orders open now.

If maya 3Dmax or photoshop were made on java, there would be no maya no 3dmax and no photoshop.

Try http://m.fxtrade.com. It has limited features but good enough for emergency.

Oanda honours stops even if you cannot log in, so there is no point blaming broker for a losing. If a trader puts on a trade without a stop, then the loss is the trader’s responsibility, and not the broker’s.

Hopefully it was a cheap lesson. I’ve learnt this the hard way when years ago when I was trading currency futures and CME had an outage right after I’ve put on a trade with a mental stop. It just wiped me out, and since then I’ve never put on a trade without a stop.

Even if you cannot log in through Oanda’s MT4, you should still have a backup plan and you can always hedge your position through your other broker.

I’m not defending Oanda at all, I’m aware of their issues, they need to improve their connectivity and fix the bugs on Win7 64 bits OS. However compared to other brokers Oanda is still one of the best around.
Use this experience as a reminder of the importance of an emergency backup plan. All the best

I've never actually used Oanda but I've got a few friends who trade with them and they like them. I hear they're getting a good reputation about their service can anyone thats using them confirm this?

Hi guys,

The last 2 weeks I am at the investigation stage looking for a reliable broker. I am currently using MARKETIVA but I am a bit hesitant to open a live account with big lot size.

Since there are people here that have used OANDA a lot, I was wondering if you could give me your advice. Would you recommend me to register with them?

What about spreads, executin time and widrawals? Do they accept scalping?

I was once screwed over by oanda's dodgy platform, it locked me out and my stop was never filled. this was me scalping after a major news release.

i contacted oanda and the refunded double what i lost. HOWEVER-this was me trading with a few pounds, i would not have expected such a quick refund if it were thousands.

these days i dont scalp with oanda, i just dont have the confidence in their platform. I just use it for swing trading- so far no problems with this. so far........

Oanda for most of the time is reliable and super fast execution, if you are scalping then they are happy for you to do so - BUT, whatever you do make sure you dont trade anywhere close to any kind of news item, they move their spreads at any excuse, and at news time it can go bonkers. It's not unusual on UK news for the cable spread to go to 40, and it will defo go to 20.

They do suffer platform probs mostly when the volumes get high, yet another reason to make certain your hands are in your pockets anywhere close to news.

They are responsive to solving problems and in my experience will honour stops etc if a technical issue has arisen, but it can take a day or two to get probs solved - you can rest assured that if you have a problem from a technoblip then so have at least several hundred others - hence the delay.

Cant' trade eurusd whole morning now on Oanda. gbpusd can trade.
I have a 'fake' trade open that magically appeared on mt4 which i can't close. It prevents me from opening any euro positions with a 'no hedging' message.

Anybody else?

I use the "normal" oanda platform, ie not mt4, no issues with EU this morning

hy guys i was wondering about the spred widening which comes once a day. is there any kind of pattern for the hour at these news come at? for example last week they had spikes at 15:45, 17:15 (gmt+2)a lot. yesterday they had spikes at 15:30(gmt+2) and i cannot figure out in the calendar what news event was it. have you found a solution to this spike problem?

or any news that just might be related - eg euro news usually results in cable spread increasing, also if any of the big wigs are talking to congess, the press etc and price starts moving, the spread widens. The only time I get hacked off is when price gets close to my stops, spread goes, knocks out my stop and then normal action is resumed except I'm no longer involved - a real bummer that can only really be resolved by moving the stop out of the way at news time - itself fraught with danger

btw - I dont scalp but it's uncanny how often price gets close to my stop in the 30 mins prior to the news releases

Similar thing was about two weeks ago on EU, after some orange or yellow news in the morning EU had 5 pip spread of an hour or so. I think it was Monday last week, not sure. While other brokers had normal spread.
I found a penny today. That's +100 pips for me.
