Markets seek balance. If one value area is within the other, then there is balance from the longer term trader's perspective.

Interesting developments on GU now;

Yesterday GU rotating around its recent fair value that was establish on last Friday & this Monday. Price retrace back down after testing this week high but finding support VAH of Tuesday.

Early session suggest that price is consolidating in a tight range with the probability of forming a bullish symmetrical triangle (on price). Potentially price could be tightly woven around the developing area today, b4 a break out? area to watch is yesterday POC @ 1.6215

eu 15 minute ... I got High Vol on wed VAL which also Tue VAH.

I'm using MP Volume now on Broco.

TOS users what is your wed VAL / Tue VAH (MP volume) ?

cant got my TOS working..., dunno why yet.

I have the same problem when I first install the windows version TOS.
After I email TOS I got this respond, try it out.

Hello,

Thank you for your email. Please check the date and time settings on your computer and confirm that these are correct. You may also try these instructions:

For PC:

1. Exit the software
2. Right click on the thinkorswim icon
3. Left click on PROPERTIES
4. Go to the SHORTCUT tab
5. Left click on FIND TARGET
6. Right click on the USERGUI folder
7. Left click on DELETE
8. Restart thinkorswim

I hope this information helps. Please let us know if this does not correct the issue.

If you are using (thwhbb) Jamie's IB line (auction market indicator) that is spot on at IBL 1.3706, right after 2 30 min bar complete to set the IB line and it reverse from there and blast up like a rocket.

I got me a test on 5m & was anticipating since it got abit more to VAL, took my trade after the test on the break of the test bar..72pips for me after it hit the DVAL but was abit anxious when holding it to DPOC...

Accumulative NU finding fair value again today, balancing in the morning session to a shakeout on VAL, expecting a test on POC or DPOC, targeting naken POC around 0.7630.

Goodmorning guys,

I have read differents things on the internet about market profile the last few days. I have observed how the market profile developed also and I have noted different things on ''how to use the market profile''. I would like to post some thoughts, please feel free to correct me if you see any mistake.

First of all, the market profile gives us a view on where price has traded in balance or in inbalance. It gives us 3 main areas:

1) The unfair high.
2) The value area, this is a trading ''range'' where most of the volume has been traded (70%).
3)The unfair low.

A new POC (Point of Control) will be created evry day, the POC represents an area (within the balance area) where most of the trades took place.

The market will also calculate different levels within the market profile,for evry session.
This levels are:

IB: Initial Balance, this one is created in the first hour of the trading session
IBH: Initial Balance high of the first hr of trading session
IBL: Initial Balance low of the first hr of trading session
DIBH: Double Initial Balance High & DIBL: Double Initial Balance Low: This are extremes, they are also called extensions of the IB's .I have read that when price trade outside the IB, then it usually doesen't move beyond double it's range, wich is actually the DIBH/DIBL.

The IBH, IBL, DIBH, DIBL are also used as support & resistance levels.
With this info, we can take advantage of it to see if strenght or weakness comes into the market at those specific levels.

Whats important is that you understand when long term traders are moving price and when short term traders are moving price. If price is trading between the IB highs and lows and not past the extensions, you can assume this is day trading and the market is balanced, and therefore trade the range at the highs and lows, the unfair price. This is known as reactive movement (i think) or rotating movement.

If price extends considerably beyond these extensions and volume is high, we can assume that the long term trader is moving price and as he feels price to be unfair according to the timeframe he is trading.

There are different types of days which can be identified by the shape of the profile, its a good idea to try and identify what sort of day you are looking at as the profile unfolds, that way you can trade accordingly.
