I have a question regarding the volume figures displayed next to the currency pairs / crosses on the website - what do they mean ?

Is is the volume that was traded in a specific time intervall ? Or is it the current volume available to the trader ( but on which side, bid or ask or combined ) ?

LOL grandpas with low testosterone = less frequent trading, hey grandpas can be pretty "prolific" these days, give them a pace-maker and some blue pills and they can go all day!!

They can have kids and grandkids at the same time well into their eighties. Anthony Quinn did. So you can hardly call that low testosterone. And if their testosterone is high enough to make little humans, they should be high enough for trading.

I read a study in field of behavioural finance once, with particular focus on traders' behaviour. Traders were divided by age and gender.

Bottom line was: most frequent traders were non-married men (young individuals, looking for females - high T levels), then married men (when you are married, your T levels drop and your behaviour is less risky - you have a family to feed).

Also young guys were more inclined towards high leverage trades than older guys.

Whether you like it or not, statistically grandpas have very low T levels thus making them the least desirable target group for ECN brokers. ECN brokers earn commish only. Therefore the best target group for Duka are young and rich male traders - frequent and high volume trades.


Where do women fit in this pattern? Most frequent traders among women supprisingly were the married ones - why?- because they feel safe in marriage.

The least frequent traders were unmarried women - these type of traders look for stability (low leverage, less frequent trades).


BTW, Duka's marketing team did a great job trying to attract young male traders, but ... there is one fundamental obstacle that they failed to either identify or overcome. And I would like to explore this obstacle as the discussion with Duka's representative unfolds.

Are they going to turn meta trader live anytime soon? i asked when they would have it and they said its basically canceled? what the heck.

No, they are not going to turn metatrader live now anytime soon and they were never going to turn metatrader live in the past. And the reason for 'NOT' is in the company's structure.

A Boyron: Your point is valid, but increased dividends and increased management fees payable to you from the company will mean no salary increase for our employees! They already earn 3 – 5 times less than employees of similar businesses! And they are getting upset

A Duka: Shit! We need to think of an alternative solution. Hey, Alain, you are the marketing manager. You are supposed to be the smartest guy in the company. Let’s meet in a few days. Will 3 days be enough for you to come up with a better solution for the company?

A Boyron: Sure, boss. Three days is more than enough for me and my marketing team.

Basically they failed to make a working MT4/ECN bridge. I guess they need to employ decent programmers in IT.

From dialogue # 2 or dialogue # 3 you will learn that there is a mechanism built-in Dukascopy that prevents decent programmers from being employed in Dukascopy.

The volume figures displayed next to the currency pairs is the amount in millions available to the trader to trade. In other words total liquidly.
On the website you will find the best Bid & Ask Price along with the total amount available in millions.
