3k's are your barometer against the dollar, if there's something happening with the dollar then you would expect to see it unfold in concert against the 3. If there's something happening with the Pound, then you would see it effect your GBP/USD.( if you were trading the Pound you'd have your own 3k with it's base currency set in pound) Your using the 3k's to help you trade the dollar.

In your chart your see over the past few days a divergence against Euro and Cable with Euro being strong, pull up a EUR/GBP chart and you'll see the tear. Euro's bull atm, that may be changing this week we will have to see, but She's aiming north at the moment looking to retest that top. We will see if it gets there.

With the layout of the 3k's, if you want to short the Dollar,i.e. Euro or Cable north, obviously you would want to long Euro, if you want to buy the Dollar then short cable or buy $Y on the pull backs. If you were looking for a trend, long EUR/GBP.

Small charts are just a closeup snapshot of the overall picture, make your move when the small charts reflect your view of the larger picture.

Just that yen/yang thingy, or accumulation/distribution thingy, when price makes big moves she usually consolidates leading up to the next run. When Cable retraces from it's tear with Euro what would you expect to see on your 3k's?

Very happy to be part of our little comunity :-)

Have been riding on my moutainbike for 2 hours yet and was able to get rid of my frustration and disappoitment.

Today has been a test for a proper mindset and stress resistance and I failed. If I had managed my position actively when EU was going down, I would have probably reached my daily goal without problems. But instead of that I was frustrated and upset and left my trading room ....

VG challenge was offering the big chance of managing 1mio USD to me. But that's history now. The next challenge is going to start in december again. So let's see ...

Thanx for your great support during the challenge. Your encouraging words have been always the fuel to keep my motivation high.

So back to business as usual :-)

I do not believe that someone on this forum for me to truly understand ... but.....

not to predict the future, but why e / u tends to 1.18? - (1.12?)
why "someone" pulled the e / u to 1.6 and then within 3 months
of a reduced rate to 1.22? Even with the philosophy
of the Three Kingdoms strategy is about more than winning or losing the battle ...
Why should you (and you may have today already) an open position
on the TF 5 10 30 seconds to win the war must be sought in the entire field of battle?
FTI has given us an invaluable tool, his long-standing expertise ...
but each of us must work out their workshop to keep your MO on the market and realize your financial goals.

I do not believe that someone on this forum for me to understand ... I'm not a teacher ... I am a practitioner ...
work is not substitute for any theory ... Thousands of transactions, if someone at some point in the transaction
do not know how to explain to someone how to do it ... This is proof of professionalism that is to say that someone

Over the course of the day the Dollar has weakened thus, $Y has pulled back, Cable has broken back above resistance, and Euro has accelerated north, all in concert with the Dollar skid.

In your studies later today when finished trading, pull up a 5 or 1 minute E$, G$ and EG as you have done with your 3ks charts and watch the interplay of the swings.

Remember your looking from the dollar's view point, as the Dollar gains and weakens how does that play out on the Euro and Pound charts in relation to each other? When one's stronger than the other? Now figure out a way to use that info to your advantage.

edit: Don't get absorbed into this, priority first should be learning price action, real time and how to position yourself, basic dancing. 3k interplay should come much later, but on the basic level of 3ks, if the dollar is going up or down it should be seen across the 3k spectrum, if not somethings happening behind the scenes. when trading the trend trade the stronger of the two north (Euro/Cable) when the dollar is weak, and trade the weaker of the two south when the dollar is strong, remember in the back of your brain that the tear of the cross will show back up in the weaker pair against the dollar when they or the dollar retraces from it's current direction.

Yes, I do need to work on my timing. My MO is to enter when the bar reacts with good momentum. However, whenever I do this I catch the tops. Consistently I have been able to catch almost every top and bottom since.
I am beginning to think that the position must be made before the impulse (which now makes a bit of sense). In other words, enter a position when the momentum is quiet.

In addition I think the problem may be caused by being too fast on switching direction. I seem to be catching the small retraces.

Hi William, i have the simillar problem. Not everytime, but sometimes i am temptateing too much to deploy position BEFORE the possible break. So when there is a break, (good momentum.....) it is OK when it failed. But when i am too early, "see it there". This is imho what to solve. regards

I had the exactly same problem previously.. buying at the highest and selling at the lowest.. that result in many rescues..
now i try to delay my decision by one or two more bar in 5m chart...seem to work at the moment.

If you feel it's a problem, try not to hit on the run, but wait it wreck back a bit for a bargon -- This is not neccesary under proper MM. If you ask auxesis, he would probably say he doesn't care where is the entry.

The better way to solve this "buy top presure" is to consider each blue dot as a troop-- the blue dot itself can be just a Scout in total army or an Attack or a Rescue, but split it into a set of inner skew. Enter scout of this inner skew when you see the bar look good. Then, deploy other inner skew around the blue dot depends on price actions. This will make the blue dot's average price better. If things not good after the blue dot, you saved others. If market start run on the blue dot, you can quickly deploy others.

"catching small retrace" --- if you meant direction confusing, then, who else not? if you meant you take the retrace trades, then, better not do it till you are very expereinced.

Some thoughts from a poor timer (me!)

Don't forget to count waves (the basics of impulse and retrace for market form, not the elaborate curve fitting for timing and price prediction). On july 22 2008, in answer to Zoran "how do you work out your time window fti?" he answered "I told you before wave counts and the dance sequence." Wave count also informs how deep is the move and the proper MM and MO.

fti said to be able to attack or add brings home the bacon, rescue brings the bread. I am still struggling to tell the difference between good momentum (the start of an impulse wave) from bad momentum (treacherous thrusts of market sweeps such as yesterday's 11:45 Weber bar which tricked me to flip and trapped in subsequent reverse north) Wave counting is not always easy in short charts. Edit: I rely too much on the 1 minute chart

Regarding "too fast in switching directions" remember bulls make money, bears make money, pigs get slaughtered - I never understood what it meant until I found this thread and fti teaching. Hope he continues to recover.

I am really sad to hear that the contest didn't work out for you. It probably happened to all of us that at one point we are doing everything right and we think that we finally got it, but market then teaches us the lesson and shows us that we still have lot to learn.

As others already said, this is a valuable experience that will make your trading better, just use it wisely. What you achieved so far is great and I believe that we will be seeing Barbara high on the ladder on the upcoming contests. Sort your mind now and come back to battle, just don't end up in mud with your mountain bike as I did few days ago

It's all part of the learning curve Niels so hopefully it is lesson learnt and time to move on. I might join the competition next December for a bit of fun.
