What I see a lot of times is a retail shopper wanting wholesale pricing and service, without purchasing the necessary volume.

Good point!

Oanda has some unique features that other borkers wont give you, because those features are good for us traders (odd lot size, low spread, low slippage)

But of course if you dont know how to trade profitable with consistency (low risk, long timeframe), then those features are really irrelevant.

I come to believe that oanda is puting itself in danger with those good features.... you have to see it from their side too. They could just aswell be like every other bro.ker.

Remeber, every bro.ker has disconnects, slippage and high spreads at times. So why would you shun the one bro.ker that offers some additional
bonus features?

Everyone should try different bro.kers and test them simultaneously.... Few people ever do that, but still preach as if they do.

They do that to eliminate the conflict of interest.

If you believe they're lying to all their clients and partners, please provide proof so we can all sue them. (I'm sure you don't)

Also, using the expression "they trade against you" with regards to market makers is erroneous (they don't exactly "trade against you", they just hedge their exposure). Usually whenever I see it, I relate it to a lack of understanding of the actual underlying mechanics of a market maker. That's why I recommend the Darkstar article.

Note that the retail ECN models (such as MBTrading, Dukascopy, etc) isn't as entirely different as you may think. In other words they're still acting as your counterparty, you're still not trading in the actual interbank market. When you place a trade, they place a similar trade with their liquidity providers (banks, etc.). So if you lose, they lose too, but your loss negates theirs. And if you win, they win too and pay you, making money from spreads/commissions in both scenarios. You don't deal with their liquidity providers, you deal with the bröker. (and THEY deal with whatever liquidity providers they have)

The only real difference is that in a MM using the same model as Oanda, losers pay the winners WITHIN the internal order book (kinda like organizing a private poker table, hence the term "making a market"). Such MM deals with third parties only to hedge the net exposure, and it's done automatically. i.e. nobody cares if your trade's money/volume resides within the imbalance (net exposure) zone or not. Names don't matter, only the cumulative volume of the net exposure does.

That's exactly what I said, I do not "feel" Oanda trading against me. If my loss is a loss, then it would be a loss with any broker. They just make sure THEY don't lose money, but it does not affect me in any way.

But it is always good, that there are people who want to change the structure of a broker, so it would not have a reason to hunt stop losses or increase slippage. We shall respect those people and give them a word. Most of them have been here around for a while now, maybe more than 10 years, and have gone through many bucket shops and have their moral reasons to eliminate brokers that conduct unfair business and broker structures that allow this behavior in the first place.

Ok...I'm sniffing a trend .......snif.....snif....snif......

First Oanda suddenly starts putting adds all over, second they cheat their win/loss ratio....so much that the CFTC stepped in to standardize. Now a relative that trade with them told me that their spreads are no longer the same.

Hummm !!!!!!

Yesterday I went shopping at a big mall where I live and their money exchange kiosk was paying 1.27 and selling at 1.43 on the EUR/USD ....now thats what I call a spread!!

Oanda is not quite there yet but they are catching up!!!!

They cheated? How so? Please elaborate/provide proof. And did the CFTC acknowledge that Oanda cheated? and if so, where did they say or allude to this? (post links, though something tells me you have nothing)

Those are quarterly reports, so I'm assuming they report it once every 3 months. Also, the stats apply only to their respective quarter, they are NOT long term stats (they are not cumulative). So they aren't really that important, yet your average internet trader thinks it's a big deal, and the broker with the best stats will naturally try to take advantage of that.

I don't trade with them but e relative does and and he told me that before they use to have even 0.6 pips, 0.9 being the norm, now 1.1 to 1.5 is the normal.

Now the spread is not important but the "trend is" something is changing, there is a change in the way Oanda is operating, it could be nothing but it could be something. I told my relative to keep his eyes open.
