Oanda goes Metatrader

I have used the oanda platform for over a year now and have found it a great platform. However I also use MT4 for all my analysis so will be sweet to have the two combined .

On another note it is a pity that myfxbookk no longer supports oanda accounts or the other way round. Was a really useful piece of software for analysing strategies etc. Anyone else use myfxbook?

Please address the disconnect issue during news time or during other volitile periods. If your fxTrade system was so well designed, why are live account users still having these problems? If you cannot address these issues on a manual execution system, how can you pull it off with automated strategies?

You need to be honest on whether or not you accept scalping strategies (or any strategies) during all hours that the market is open. It doesn't matter how good the spread is if there's no ability to execute on an available price from the client platform.

I am still dubious about whether a self proclaimed market maker can be trusted to not do something if they think it is needed, even if my trades are normally left alone.

There are plans for a new Data Sharing API to be developed. This new API will make iteasier to share your OANDA fxTrade stats on all third party sites. The MT4 project currently has higher priority but the good news is that with the release of OANDA MT4 for fxTrade you can share your stats on the MT4 platform.

I thought the Oanda Daily bar closes at 23 est (11pm NY Time) ?

Whatever timezone floats your boat is a good one to use for pivots.

Gave Oanda on mt4 a drive yesterday. everything seems to work well, just miss a couple of features:
- not being able to trade nano lots (0.01 cent per pip). so difficult to use if i want to start trading live with a small amount.but oanda not to blame as this is basically an mt4 restriction
- position size calculator on the fxtrade platform. really loved that nifty little thing

ah well, you cannot have everything. guess i will use charts in mt4 and execute on ftrade!

So the minimum trade size is 1000 units or around 10 cents a pip? Seems small enough for practice. Anybody know the go live date?

There is a limitation in metatrader 4 that only allows trading down to the nearest 1/100 or 0.01 numerical value lot size. There is a way around this:

Actually, oanda could allow nano or even smaller units on MT4. All they have to do on their server, is change what the lot sizes stand for. In other words, 1.00 lot in metatrader could = 10,000 units base currency. Then 10.00 lot size would be 100,000 units. 100 lot size would = 1,000,000 units. Etc. etc.

They could set the 1.00 lot in metatrader = 1000 or 100 units if they wanted. They just would have to notify their clients first of the change.

This is what IBFX does to accomplish nano lots in their mini accounts. 1.00 lot size = 10,000 units. MB Trading does the same thing. 1.00 lot in metatrader = 10,000 units of base currency. MB does not have nano lots yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if they set it up purposely looking into the future.

I think nano is small enough, but just showing you that it is possible. It's up to the broker to be creative enough and willing enough to let it happen.

Same issue...

I checked the ticket status. It is closed, but no resolution offered.
The email did indicate it may take a couple of days to correct the issue.

Let me know if you get your demo acct up and running.

Oanda is rolling out metratrader? Why? What's wrong with their original platform? I love their platform. It's unique, easy to use and very convenient with everything all in one place. I hope they still make their original platform available for traders who still wish to use it.

ofcourse u will be able to use both ...

I asked support today and they told me its still in beta, what do I have to do to trade live with mt4?
