Does anyone know if Metatrader 4 for Interbank has the ability to send you an email and tex message once an "Expert Advisor" strategy goes off?

How do you program it to do this?

Okay, I did an initial search at forex-tsd.com and discovered that it can be done.. However, does anyone know how to setup the SMTP settings in
Tools > Options > Email tab?

Has anyone been able to successfuly send e-mails from MT4 to your e-mail?

I do know how to program the SMTP, but you will need your cell providers SMTP info of:

- SMTP server info: example for SprintPCS is smtp.sprintpcs.com
- SMTP Login info: example for sprintpcs it is your LOGIN ID
- SMTP Password: example for sprintpcs it is your password you use to login THEIR website to view your account
- cell providers TEXT EMAIL master email, example for sprint it is yourcell#@messaging.sprintpcs.com

I hope that makes sense to everyone.

You posted on the Knife trade journal that you went short yesterday mourning and I paper traded that trade....

Man nice trade !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In going over for the first time the "learning pages", and from learning I saw the BEB, then I saw you went short yesterday, and then I saw there was a DBHLC formed, and the trade kept going down....nice trade!

Man for the $100 fee, I already made that in learning something new in 5 mins. Anyone who does not sign up for the subscription is just plain stupid.

WOW, man im glad i saw this. this is what its all about. this is what i want every subscriber to do and understand. learn what we all do and then combine them. when mastered and then combined with a little common sense you CAN be a long term success at this business.

Thanks for this info bigballer... Now all I need is an SMTP server...
Your isp should provide an smtp server for email and you can use your isp's email settings. I setup Mt4 price alerts this week to send to my cell phone and it is working great.

If you have an email that you use a program such as Outlook or Outlook Express, or similar, you should be able to use the same SMTP settings. Email such as yahoo and hotmail will not allow you to do this. For instance, if your email settings are smtp.yourisp.com you should be able to put it in MT4 that way with the same username and password and work fine.

Email servers can be setup all sorts of ways. mine is sendmail.myisp.net can be smtp.yourisp.com or it can be just mail.yourisp.com. BTW, none of these domains actually exist and if they do I am not aware of them. Just make sure you use your own username and password.

I have Outlook Express installed but I don't know how to set it up. Plus, the directions are in Japanese... hmmmm... Better learn how to use Outlook...

Just for reference for setting up your own SMTP server, here's what I did:

I still haven't received a reply from my ISP server (plus I don't understand Japanese that good) so what I did was setup my own SMTP server in my local machine...

I tried looking for a free SMTP server but could not find any that I think is worth trying.. So I got a free 30-day trial demo of QK SMTP server..

I've just set it up in my local machine and have been able to send/use the mail function of MT4..

I'm now ready to develop the EA.... bwahahahahaha...

Ey peeps,

Here's an indicator for sending e-mails when price has reached a certain price level (you specify that level).

Inputs:

 

  1. highPrice

    1. price level when price reaches or goes above it, will send an e-mail alert
    2. default = 0

  2. lowPrice

     

    1. price level when price reaches or goes below it, will send an e-mail alert
    2. default = 0

  3. showPriceLevels

     

    1. option if you want to show with a horizontal dotted line on your chart the high/low price levels you specified
    2. default = true (will display price levels)

  4. sendMailAlert

     

    1. option if you want the indicator to send you an e-mail (only once a day and if you don't switch between profiles)
    2. default = false (will not send you e-mails)

  5. soundAlert

     

    1. option if you want the indicator to alert you (only once a day too)
    2. default = true (will alert you)

Function
This indicator will only send you mail once a day. Please be reminded that when you switch between profiles, the inidicator will be reloaded and even if you were sent an e-mail today, but when you switch profiles it will send you an e-mail again if current price has reached/exceed your specified target price levels.. Well, I hope I made sense..

But what I want to say basically is that when you only want the indicator to send you one e-mail a day only, I suggest to not switch between profiles, or set the "sendMailAlert" to false so that you can switch between profiles without the indicator sending you multiple mails per day..
Hope I make more sense now...

I've tested it and it's working for me.

yes, it can send e-mail on whatever broker errors.

it can't send e-mail if your link is down.

edited: sorry, I thought you ment that if EA goes "offline" because of any reason. EA trades and alerts are very simple.

I want to do what the original question asked and I can't find the answer here or at forex-tsd.com. Please, can any kind soul assist?

I can send a test email fine from mt4.

But I would like an email once an "Expert Advisor" places a trade. Is there a little line of code I could include in the EA. I would just like the subject of the email to be the pair traded, buy or sell and price traded.

Then another email would go when the EA closes with the pair traded and current price. It's late here so I apologise if this is answered above. I just can't see it. I may feel stupid in the morning.
