So true, I entered short on a set up that's not so fit my rules and it's so close to SL now. Lesson learned.

LOL, If it's a lesson you learned AND you stick by what you learned then that's ok. I'm forever having these hard lessons and just when I think I've mastered a bit of mm and discipline I go and do something stupid again. Mayhap I should lob a brick at my head and see if that helps what I learn to go in a bit deeper ...

We have all been there.

I finally went to pattern/formation trading a few years back on a few different time frames, if for whatever reason I enter the market on my pattern/formation and it does the opposite of what I expected, I exit.

Simple, trade the same setups, the same entry, the same stops, and the same profits.

Once you stray from what you know, you will know.

Cheers, oh, how long have you been trading forex?

Nothing reallly suprises me anymore, but I must say I am a little miffed at the Aussie strength after that employment number. That number is looking back, and looking forward all the flooding can only be hurting the Aust. economy. The market just last week was pricing in over 50 basis points of hikes this year. Hard to see that number as a reality right now. I would lean towards no hikes or maybe even a cut.... certainly if China keeps raising rates and slowing their economy. I'm not saying I was expecting a southbound route on this evening's number, but this muted reaction so far has me somewhat puzzelled.

Regards,

Hi FX-Petra,
The over 50 basis points of hikes this year were planned for the second half of the year and as far as I know they are still on the table.
All the chatter is like looking at the M1 chart and thinking you know which way the price is going.

Bias was short until yesterdays massive candle. Overall, definitely looking for longs, but I dont like this consolidation area. I'll wait to see what happens over night in London first.

I closed my short at +3.2 (-3.12 swap) heheh. Four hours for some pocket change that you can't even buy a candy bar with.

Will check out again tomorrow morning as it appears things have died for the moment... leave it to london for now... i'm flat.

Well, I barely eke out a 30 pips profit from my longs at 0.9910. It is like squeezing blood from stone the last few days for me when longing the AUS/USD. With my highly untrained eye, it may dipped to 0.9870 (?) today which is where my next wave of longs await. I have some confidence in Australia's economy in the long term - flood should be just an unfortunate road bump.

Hi Amanda, don't worry it takes time to master, a LOT of time.
Admitedly, this run north has been a great small trend to catch, it has behaved very well, with hardly any overlaps.
I'll show you a screen shot of a limit order that didn't get filled, for a laugh.

I have been busy lately so my trading has been longer term than normaly, what you see on the chart is a limit to exit a hedge short i had while i couldn't keep an eye on things, it didn't fill by the spread, and it has costed me a bit of money.

analysis of good friends,

for long-term, AU is still strong enough to hold up,,
despite the great flood swept the Australian, but this is not too bad to rise AU
only an analysis, and I'm always wrong, don't follow me,

I think so, but i hesitate since we did not touch 0.9975 and fall back. Otherwise first target could be 0.9700 level, carefull then for second target which could be 0.9100. I begin to love aussie lol.

We touched it at 1 pip higher. Will we see 0.9700 level?
