Well I've just completed reading this entire thread, now I'm dead, going to bed 
.
I have learned a lot. Mainly that the market is fluid (duh!). But seriously, I used to want to trade only "mechanical" systems, and studying this thread I've seen how fluid/changing the market is and I've seen the need to change with it.
I've also seen the value of scrolling out and looking at the bigger picture.
And finally I've seen the often-repeated "hook" and how reliable it really is. I love the R:R of this method of trading and a lot of other things as well.
Plasmapants, I have gained an admiration for you. You have been here over a full year and you are still at it when everybody else has put you on the front lines and then withdrawn from the battle. It seems like you like to trade lower timeframes for smaller, quicker profits? It looks like you're doing really well. I hope to post some charts here and ask for help, if you don't mind.

OK before I go to bed wanted to post one chart. This line looks to me like good support, and now resistance, on the 4 hour chart. It looks like we're approaching resistance right now. It has been tested before so is it probably not a good idea to take a bounce off of this to the short side? That's not the method here, I realize that. The method here would have price break through resistance and go high and then make a hook and return. I'm just seeing if I have it right so far. Anybody? Fancypants? I mean, Plasmapants? (where did you get that nick anyway?) Anyone?

alternate like you said, look for it to break through and hook to follow it.
