Nice indicator. I like it. Wicks are extremely important on Range Bars. Especially on Bigger Pip Interval Bars. They give a very good indication of "Potential Turning Points" in the market.

Thanks Tazmaan, I'll look at the post with the alerts. I really like the alerter I put on the second or third post but I'm always interested in looking at others too.

For me the R:R will never be less than 1:1, but Zam is doing slightly less than that; we'll just keep testing.

Dreamliner... let me get this right in my head.

Bar Opens.

Price goes up "x" Pips ----> Buy Limit at the Bar Open Price?

Price goes down "x" Pips ----> Sell Limit at the Bar Open Price?

Set SL / TP combination at "Y" / "Z" ( Y and Z some yet to be determined combination as determined by Backtesting )

Correct?

Wow this backtesting stuff is time intensive if you do every 50 pip range bar by hand, going through each minute bar to see what *really* happens. Here are the results of my backtesting from November 1-4 (see attached for pic):

27 bars tested
18 No-Trade bars (NT)
9 Wins
0 Losses

Total pips: 224 net (spread of 2.5 figured in to each trade).

Obviously with this small of a sampling nothing much can be determined; I'd like to have 100 bars just to get started with, but I've done enough backtesting for now (my eyes are crossing ).

Hello Musashi,

Actually it's opposite:

Bar opens
Price goes up "X" Pips----->Sell Stop at the Bar Open Price

Price goes down "X" Pips------>Buy Stop at the Bar Open Price

SL is always bar low on a long and bar high on a short.
TP is always end of bar.

No, I haven't because of the bank holidays this week. I might do some on Wednesday, or I may just wait until next Monday.

So x=17-25 implies that for a short trade there must be an upper wick of at least 17 pips but no greater than 25 pips right?

and for a long trade there must be a lower wick of at least 17 pips but no greater than 25 pips right ?

If price goes to 17 Pips you then put your sell/buy stops into the market and then if price goes above the 25 pips before your order is hit you then remove the order until the next bar opens?

Yup on a bar size of 52 my SL is something like 1.5484 and it entered short... the EA actually didn't work for me so I'm just eying it for now.

Would have been good to release the source instead of an EX4... oh well I'll have to decompile it.

the ea doesnt actually take trades, just marks entries etc for testing purposes.
Notice the sl is incorrect on mine, already sent zz a pm about it since apparently there's no discussion about it on here (a shame)
